Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

My brother had the Head on the Clouds DVD like five years ago. I wasn't into drama movies back then. I put the disc on the player. And i was amazed.I used to watch horror movies all the time. Head on the Clouds was a big change for me. The writing was great and i think it shows the World War 2 very realistic. Charlize Theron is great as Gilda, a character i will always remember. Some scenes really effected me and the end is just so tearful and the last scene is excellent. It's an underrated movie. Mostly because there are lots of unnecessary sex scenes. But it's much more better than a lot of war movies. For the people who wants to see this movie, don't boggle by the IMDb vote or bad reviews just watch it and decide yourself. I think it's excellent and very emotional 8.5/10.

The movie is well shot and seems to be quite acceptable even for wartime romance. Unfortunately it is way too long and leaves strange bitter aftertaste in the end. It somehow starts in nowhere and leads to nowhere. I like the scenery and quite realistic portrayal of the era. The action scenes are, how to describe, weird. They somehow fail to reach their climax. I have hard time to figure out that the first girl has died for example. In one scene hero speaks with her, then she leaves. After that I can hear some sound on background. Then we see some wreckage and hero reads some poetry or something over the grave. Only some scenes after the hero explicitly says "she died". Was it landmine? Was this attack from the enemy? The same happens in the end of the movie. Was the heroine killed? Was she mutilated? Did she try to explain the partisans she worked for intelligence? If not, why? What has actually happened? I have no idea. I do not like the stories "open", I do not like "guessing", especially in that long movies. Very unsatisfying.

I'll keep this simple -- this movie could have been great, but it wanted to be too much. It wanted to be epic, it wanted to be about friends and it wanted to be an anti-war movie and on top of that, it wanted to be about WWII and the underground work. I wanted to like this movie and while it's not impossible to watch, it is slow and plodding some times. This is a movie that really could have hit the audience hard, but it just kind of laid there instead. We go through a long, long development of the relationship between the two main characters Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend. This could have been story enough, but no, we have to follow them over a 10 or 15 year period and go all the way through WWII. Early on, we are introduced to Penelope Cruz who is a good friend to Theron's character. And from this we kind of slip into a pseudo-three-way that never fully develops. Then there is the Spanish Civil War that Cruz's character feels she must partake in as well as Townsend. Again, this could have been an interesting story all on its own. Finally, we get into WWII and it drags on and on and I started to lose interest in the characters and the story. It's all just too much of a BIG story and, at the same time, not enough of a story to really hold our interest. The actors were okay, though sometimes I felt like Theron was just reading her lines. Townsend, for the most part fits the role, but other times he comes across as too modern for the time period. There are a few twists and turns here that keep the viewer interested, but overall, its not as good as it could have been. A shorter version, about one of the many story lines could make this a really, really good film.

I think this movie is a good film although the end of film wasn't perfect. If you love Charlize Theron , You can find her in many different scene and shaping! Head In The clouds is a romantic drama set in 1930's England,Paris and spin.... I think the score of this film in IMDb isn't true and it should be about 7 - 8.5 I type the note that written about this film: In a city of glamour at a time of decadence they met, a soldier of conscience, and an entertainer. Together they shared a deep passion. In this film also Penelope Cruz and Stuart Townsend Had very good match with their character.Three Lives....One Destiny.
