In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

1 - The soundtrack is OK...not great just good, I used to be a big fan of 50 cent back in the days now I'm just not, still I don't think he's bad so I must say that the movie's soundtrack is OK. 2 - Terrence Howard: He's acually an actor, he knows how to give great performances wich made the movie he made after this "hustle & Flow" such a great and much better movie than this one, maybe Get Rich or Die Trying would've been a much better movie if he was the main character and not 50 cent. 3 - Adewale agbaje: knows how to play a psycho, a gangster or whatever, he is an actor, this wasn't his best role or movie but still I knows his spot, to me he and Terrence Howard were the only real gangsters in this so called "Gangster" movie.

Marcus lives with his loving but drug dealing mother. After she gets murdered in a drug deal, Marcus is brought into the life by drug-lord Levar (Bill Duke) and his associate Majestic (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). He lives with his grandmother (Viola Davis) and grandfather (Sullivan Walker). As a teen, Marcus (50 Cent) gets arrested and quits school as he climbs the drug business. He writes his raps on the side and reunites with childhood love Charlene (Joy Bryant). He gets thrown in prison where Bama (Terrence Howard) saves him in a prison fight. Meanwhile Majestic sets up Levar in a cop killing and takes over the gang. Marcus gets out of prison and leaves the gang to pursue rapping with Bama as his manager. He refuses to sign with Majestic and gets shut out of the industry. Bama convinces him to rob a drug dealer.50 is not a good actor. He's never going to get an acting award. He does have a natural understated charm which does come across on the screen. It's not the most original story but it's compelling enough. It has little insights like comparing drug dealing on the street corner to a minimum pay jobs. There is also an authenticity to the performance and getting the character shot 9 times is a little reminder. It doesn't have the intensity or the drama of 8 Mile but it's still a functional familiar story despite hitting some slow spots.

The acting surprisingly was very good. Terrence howard steals the show with a brilliant raw performance and one of the best performances I've seen him perform. The story is gripping and 50 cent for his acting debut is a nice touch. If you are a 50 cent fan then I definitely recommend this film. If your a fan of 8 mile I recommend this film as well, the music fits perfectly with the film and its well done how his music fits in with the film and his life. Im not sure how its got such a low rating, you need to give it some credit as Its not a high budget film and hasn't got a fantastic well known cast but there will be a few familiar faces.this film toys with your emotions and will keep you gripped from start to finish. im not afraid to say its one of my favourites. Im not a deluded fan of the film or a deluded critic I honesty recommend this film.
