Purely Joyful Movie!
... View MoreDisappointment for a huge fan!
... View MoreA film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
... View MoreThe movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
... View MoreLike a film made with two directors, the good one goes for a coffee the less capable one takes over. You have a mix of electric brutal well staged violence mixed with slow poorly put together, comically inappropriate scenes. The start in the store is poorly staged, and you think, who would do it this way, except a geek volunteering for 99yrs on death row. The villain Hagan, played by the totally unconvincing Vincent D'onofrio [ one of the worst actors in the film, to be kind maybe he was miscast] had no impact. Another scene with Josh and Rosario as sitting targets to a snipers telescopic rifle, sees them dancing about like sitting ducks at 250yds while she returns fire with a pistol, suicide jockey doesn't come near. Bruce pro-cameo where's the pay check Willis was totally unnecessary, his scene in the warehouse where he fronts Hagan does blah blah then exits kicking the s--t out of a gunzle on the way, he saunters out with his back to about six gorillas armed to the teeth, who do nothing unrealistic? cool? pointless? you choose its in there. The torture at the table brilliant and brutal, but reluctant heroes throwing up, no especially firemen, they go through everything, just a whispered "Its not like me" would have elicited an audience smirk. The best scene? The utterly brilliant interaction between Josh and Richard Schift under the sprinkler, acting direction, meaning, dialogue, worthy of the absolute best. The finish was also very good. The inconsistencies were irritating, the good bits surprisingly good. Well worth a watch you'll say "if only" but overall you should enjoy it.
... View MoreBruce Willis could easily have played the hero in this preposterous film, "Fire with Fire," from 2012. Instead, he takes phone calls while Josh Duhamel has all the fun.Duhamel plays a firefighter, Jeremy Coleman, who witnesses a brutal double shooting in a convenience store. The killer is the notorious David Hagan (Vincent D'Onofrio), whom the police have been trying to get for years. He usually leaves a lot of dead bodies as witnesses. Since Jeremy escpaed, the police are desperate to have him testify. They put him in witness protection. In witness protection, he falls in love with Talia (Rosario Dawson), one of the people in charge of him. Somehow his whereabouts are found, and the next step will be to separate him and Talia as both are in terrible danger. As with many of these types of films, there's not much in the way of reality. Normally I don't care about that if it's fast-moving and exciting. But this really stretched the bounds of credibility and just wasn't that good. People involved in a horrible fire that is explosive, all encompassing, and three people are untouched? Rosario Dawson coughed once. It also was very upsetting as it looked like 9/11.The other thing was Josh Duhamel, after being pummeled in every part of his body, pounded, and screaming in pain was able to walk around just fine - not even a limp. Didn't even move slowly. Insane.Bruce Willis had nothing to do, so I can't comment on his acting. Josh Duhamel is a little too lightweight for me, although he's attractive and sincere. Vincent D'Onofrio has long been a fantastic actor. He's magnificent here, even though the bad guys in this film were so mean they were almost comic book types. No redeeming qualities. Julian McMahon from Nip/Tuck has a small role. You can easily skip this one.
... View MoreSometimes films can be entertaining, but for one reason or another are utterly forgettable. In the case of Fire With Fire, I enjoyed the film, but even a few weeks later, I had a difficult time remembering the plot. This is because once again we have an action film that is completely average in every way possible. It's a common story, with a lot of bullets, f words, and bodies, featuring a cast that was far from superb. Jeremy Coleman (Josh Duhamel) is a firefighter who witness a horrible crime. As a result, Coleman is put into the Witness Protection Program, which according to Hollywood is completely inept. Once found, Coleman and his significant other are forced to go on the run and ultimately decide to take the fight to their pursuers, with mixed results. This film was completely predictable and lacked any originality what so ever. Josh Duhamel stars and while he is a good looking, gigantic man, he's not much of an action star. He's lanky, awkward, and simply doesn't have the moves or personality to be believable as an action star. The Director tries to correct this by surrounding him with veteran action stars like Bruce Willis and Vincent D'Onofrio, but it is still painfully obvious that Duhamel got the role simply to be eye candy, further proved by the amount of times he unnecessarily takes his shirt off. As with all action films, Fire With Fire has it's moments, and Vincent D'Onofrio is always an entertaining villain, but aside from that, this film is good for nothing more than a 90 minute distraction, that you probably won't even remember it a few days later.
... View MoreNot worth watching. Bruce Willis is completely not necessary in that movie because he is doing nothing at all. The "Hero" transforms into a killing machine after shooting some cans in the forest, yea right. But the worst is the end. He burns down a house and several gangsters with 2 bottles of some inflammable liquids. That was one of the worst final scenes I have ever seen. It looks like the villains took a bath in that gas before they entered the building and walls and stairways made of stone do burn like paper and of course everything explodes because it is gas station but I didn't recognize that. Summary: If this would have been an ad for some barbecue lighter then it was great but it wasn't. Stupid movie for simple people. Not even worth for Willis Fans. Now after this review I am asking myself why I still gave it 5/10 it should have been 3-4 at max. Probably because I am a Bruce Willis fan.
