I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

I felt compelled to do this review after reading so many very negative reviews of this movie. This movie is certainly not a classic, but it is a decent thriller. Yes sometimes the story gets a bit predictable and could use some more suspense. The moves stars Angie Harmon and Cuba Gooding Jr and both are very good in this movie. Angie plays a reporter trying to investigate the Assassination of the President and Cuba Gooding Jr plays a Secret Service agent who is also trying to find out who killed the President. Anne Archer has a much to small role in this movie, she is a great actress and movie could have used her character having a larger role. James Woods and Burt Reynolds are also in the movie and do a decent job, which in the case of Burt Reynolds is surprising to me since I hardly ever like a movie he is in. I think for me what this movie was lacking was some romance. It could have been between Angie and Cuba, or even perhaps with Cuba having an affair with Anne Archer but something was needed to spice up this movie. Still this is a very watchable movie, sit back and enjoy it.

One of the characters in "End Game" tells Cuba Gooding, Jr., that he needs to see things from a different perspective. As I write this review, I don't know what that perspective would be, since from just about any perspective, this film is an excuse for car chases and things blowing up. I'm not saying that wasn't exciting; there were some good action scenes, but the script -- if you can paint by numbers, I'm sure there's a template out there for writing a script by numbers, and the screenwriter used it.The President of the United States (Jack Scalia) is assassinated, and one of the members of his Secret Security team, Alex Thomas (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is completely devastated, feeling that he could have done more. He not only felt a responsibility to the President, but he loved the man. He continually beats himself up. A reporter, Kate Crawford (Angie Harmon) noses around and realizes that this wasn't a one-man job, so she goes to see Alex. He isn't interested in her "grassy knoll" theory, but she says enough to finally pique his interest. Alas, if you're interested in who killed the President and why, or if you know too much, you die. This cast was a mixture of film and TV people: Besides Harmon, Scalia, and Gooding, there was James Woods, Burt Reynolds, Anne Archer, David Selby, and Benito Martinez (The Shield).I had this figured out fairly quickly. Though everyone was made to seem guilty, it didn't fool me, and it won't fool you if you've seen as many of these movies as I have.Cuba Gooding, Jr., is a good actor who, after his Oscar win, never did live up to his potential. It may have been a question of finding the right roles. He's not really a leading man, and at the time of his Oscar, he was too young for character roles. Actually, at 46, which he is now, he's still on the young side. But I notice that he is prolific, so that's good anyway. He acts with warmth and sincerity and is sympathetic as Alex. Angie Harmon brings an energy to her portrayal of Kate. It's always a pleasure to see David Selby, even in a small part, and the beautiful, husky-voiced Anne Archer. If this were in a theater, I'd say forget it, but as a rental, it's fine.

At first, I thought this movie was one of those clever movies that are so complicated you don't get it until right near the end. Then the end came (abruptly) and I was still none the wiser. Then(!), I thought that maybe it was supposed to leave you guessing. But the more I think about it, that's not the case at all. It was just plain crap. There were no subliminal clues and clever plot, just used toilet roll for a storyline! This film appears to me (especially towards the end) as if about 20 minutes of footage has been removed from the final cut - unfortunately those 20 mins contain the answers to the characters questions! This film is like 'Memento' in how messed up it is, except this film plays forwards.

This film premiered at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival and then dropped out of sight, not opening in theaters, but going straight to video. Probably a wise choice. It is good enough for video and TV, but not quite good enough for the screen. It just doesn't have that something extra to make it a great film, but it is not a total waste of time, either.I have to admit that I tuned in to see Christa Campbell, who plays the President's mistress. I didn't get to see anything more than her lips talking into the telephone. Big disappointment, but hey, it's Christa. It will keep me satisfied until my copy of Death By Engagement arrives. It is the first I have seen of Cuba Gooding, Jr. in a long time, and he did a good job. Plenty of action as he goes after those responsible for the assignation of the President. Angie Harmon, one of the best Assistant DAs on Law and Order, was great as his partner in solving the mystery of who killed the President. Certainly an interesting twist to the usual assignation plot.Always like seeing Anne Archer, and she was classy as a First lady. James Woods and Burt Reynolds had small but interesting parts.
