If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.

Monty Capuletti (Rodney Dangerfield) drinks too much, smokes too much, and gambles too much. He carouses with Nicky Cerone (Joe Pesci) and Paddy (Tom Noonan). His wife Rose (Candy Azzara) loves him but his ruthless widower mother-in-law Mrs. Monahan (Geraldine Fitzgerald) hates the baby photographer lacking ambition. She owns a department store and Clive Barlow (Jeffrey Jones) is her assistant. Monty's daughter Allison (Jennifer Jason Leigh) marries Julio (Taylor Negron) but she runs home after her failed wedding night. When his mother-in-law dies, Monty inherits most of the $10 million estate but only after a year of clean living. If he fails, Barlow gets it.Rodney Dangerfield makes me happy. He is utterly lovable. He makes this funny. I don't know if it would work with anybody else. I also like the side story with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Taylor Negron. The great thing here is Dangerfield as the lovable schlub and the audience roots for him. I would like a denser level of laughs but this one keep me smiling throughout.

This movie is a must see for the Rodney Dangerfield fan. I think its his finest work as the main character. I grew up around neighbors like this character. The over protective father, pissing away the mortgage at the track for a "tip" that turns out to be mush. Out drinking late with his buddy every night.Rodney and Joey have great chemistry in this ... much funnier than Back to School yet doesn't get the credit ... some of the funniest zingers in a single movie aside from Midnight Run..you just cant help but laugh from beginning to end. Rodney plays the blue collar married father of two daughters to perfection. Joey plays the single playboy buddy / neighbor perfectly as well. Geraldine Fitz is great as the rich ball busting mother in law. Jennifer Jason Leigh has the "guidette daddy's little girl" down pat.

If you've seen any Rodney Dangerfield movie, then you should know what sorts of things to expect in "Easy Money". He plays a rowdy guy who has to end his vices so that he and his wife (Candice Azzara) will inherit a department store. Mostly, the movie is an excuse for Dangerfield to play his common role of the eternally obnoxious guy. But don't get me wrong, he ends up doing some funny stuff, with great support provided by Joe Pesci as his irresponsible friend, Geraldine Fitzgerald as the irritating mother-in-law and Taylor Negron as the mischievous son-in-law. One of the funniest scenes is the whole sequence in the department store; that must have been so much fun to film! All in all, it's not the funniest movie of all time, but does elicit a few laughs. Also starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan, Tom Ewell (of "The Seven Year Itch") and Lili Haydn.

This is one funny film. If you don't think so, it's understandable because growing up in the New York/New Jersey/Philadelphia area may help you relate a bit better. All of the stereotypes of that area are there and because its that regional - it makes it the more funnier.Comedian Rodney Dangerfield is the patriarch of the family - a baby photographer who has a drug, gambling, sex, weight and alcohol problem but always managed to love and take care of his family. His wife, played by Candy Azzaraa is a more refined woman who's mother, played by the wonderful Geraldine Fitzgerald is wealthy and controlling as anything and wanted better for her daughter and her family. Rodney's older daughter, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh is about to become the virgin bride to a sassy Puerto Rican, played by the comic Taylor Negron while plucky younger daughter played by Lili Haydn tries to make sanity out of all of this. The grandmother mother 'dies' and even in death tries to control and shape her relatives via marriage by placing in her will that if Rodney looses weight, gives up drugs, extra martial affairs and alcohol in a year, the family would inherit her hundreds of millions of dollars fortune - if not, it all goes to her slimy, pompous assistant. Now the fight between who will receive the money begins and it is indeed funny. This film is full of great stand-up comedians of the time and funny early performances by Joe Pesci and Jeffrey Jones and a few others you've seen in Martin Scorecese films! (Yeah, its regional, even New Yorker Billy Joel Sings the theme song!) It's silly, low brow, low-rent and that is just the perfect vehicle for Rodney Dangerfield and co-horts. A very underrated comedy gem!
