As Good As It Gets

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

It has some good effects. the humor can be enjoyable if you get drunk or stay awake for a few days with some friends. Other than that this movie doesn't have much going for it. The characters aren't very interesting, I feel like I have seen all of these characters before in several different movies. The plot is so strange. After watching the movie I didn't know if it was supposed to be a parody, regular horror film with dark juvenile humor, or a christian film trying to tell it's viewers that metal is bad.

Why must every horror film have humour? Why is this a must? I see people here praise the humour, but sheep aside why is this a must? Does every action movie have gore? Must every thriller have a musical segment?Deathgasm is the typical film that makes fun of metal music too inclusive of drugged out mother, troubled teenager, outcast, bullied, et cetra.. in this case this very extreme metal band has music that is softer than a gospel chant, a keyboard player and nerdy members.Whatever... the girl is the coolest but how did she all of a sudden out of nowhere become infatuated with the nerd metal guy? How did the gang's boss get killed suddenly and his henchmen switch allegiance? Why was this music magical and where did it come from? how? What? Explain? No, nothing metal band with keyboards and .... This is what people praise as a good film nowadays. No wonder Jar Jar Abrams is considered a director by some people... the world is stupid.

While listening to some random metal on YouTube I ran into soundtrack for this movie and bunch of thrilled comments about it. Usually, when I run into some movie I wanna see, I just add it to IMDb watch-list and one day it may be its turn... This time I could not wait. Whatever I had to do could wait for a few hours and few minutes later I was in for a crazy ride.As much as I could not wait to see it, I did not expect anything from it, cause it is New Zealand low budget horror comedy made by bunch of no-names. Movie exceeds all possible expectations. Although it is directors low-budget debut, this movie is better than almost everything I so in the genre so far. Story is interesting, characters are caricatured but yet realistic and actors carry their roles very well and you'll fall in love with them from the start. Effects and overall production are above every expectation for low- budget movie and directing and camera have some very interesting moments. Movie is extremely gore and explicit, impregnate with very twisted and sick humor and you get to listen to good metal from the beginning to the end. Mandatory for all gore lovers and metal-heads.9/10!!! SPOILER ALERT !!!High-school metal-head moves in little puritan town. Greeted by rejection he falls in love with the best chick in school, meets the only other metal-head, they start a band (you guess - Deathgasm), find ancient notes with Latin text, take them as their new song and by playing them they open portal for demon king to take over the Earth. And fun begins...

I had no expectations to "Deathgasm" when I sat down to watch it. In fact, I had never even heard about it prior to finding it by sheer random luck on Amazon. I read the synopsis and saw that it had gotten a good score, so I decided to give it a chance.This movie is nothing short of spectacular. It combines all the best things from movies such as "Evil Dead" and "Shaun of the Dead", but it is its very own movie in every aspect. "Deathgasm" is a myriad of assaults on your senses, and it really appeals to us who grew up with horror movies, roleplaying games and metal music.The story is easy to follow, and it offers a lot of entertainment and laughs along the way. Briefly summarized, then it is about a small time local band who stumble upon some very old and mystic pages with lyrics that they turn into a song. But the song calls forth wicked demons and brings havoc to the world around them."Deathgasm" has a lot of good effects. Sure, it is not a CGI fest, like many Hollywood movies have turned into, but it uses its special effects to the best potential, and the effects really serve their purpose quite well."Deathgasm" has some very memorable characters in it, and they are characters that you instantly take a liking to. And that is by means of good writing and also the talented actors and actresses who portrayed them.And while we are on the acting topic, then I will say that the acting in the movie was good, and it was a nice touch to see new faces in a movie such as this. And I will say that the people in the movie really performed quite well, and I hope to get to see more of them in the future.I was thoroughly entertained by "Deathgasm", from start to end, and the movie kicks up into high gear from very early on, and it doesn't release its grip on you before the end credits start to roll on the screen."Deathgasm" is a must watch for fans of the horror comedy genre. This movie landed a rock-solid eight out of ten stars rating from me, without a doubt.
