It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Yukari Oshima and Sharon Yeung, as Hong Kong cops on leave in Manila who are contacted by their boss and asked to help a local, recently widowed cop break a weapons smuggling ring operating in the area, make a dynamite female-buddy team. Sarah Gomez, as the main bad guy's sister, is a totally sexy and evil bitch. So you'd expect some some of climactic confrontation between her and at least one, if not both, of the film's leads. But it never comes, as Gomez meets a disappointing end. "Deadly Target" is jam-packed with action, but there is also too much wirework, and the film runs too long for its simple good guys vs. bad guys tale. But there ARE two things here that you won't often see: Yukari and Sharon in clown disguises, and death by fart (!) ** out of 4.

Deadly Target, unfortunately, mixes two genres: kung fu movies and gun-play movies. As a result, it isn't a satisfying example of either. The only thing that makes it worth watching are the two super-athletic women in the lead roles. They have some serious fighting and acrobatic ability, and also great chemistry and charisma. But the car chases and gunfights are laughably poorly done, the overall acting is hammy and the dialog is abysmal - although that may have something to do with the ridiculous subtitles, which just say "Cut the crap!" all the time, and uses dialog on the level of "Don't mess up without my order, alright?". But honestly, this is just the kind of thing that these characters actually seem to be saying...The movie dragged on with a boring plot for too long. The climactic fight lasts fifteen minutes, but has very little kung fu and almost nothing but gun-play (complete with a bunch of guys who are killed several times), which in my opinion was boring, as I watched it to see some good fighting. Too bad.4 out of 10.
