Nice effects though.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

The original Dead Snow movie was actually not that bad. It was quite okay within its somewhat confined genre. Dead Snow 2 however is a major disappointment. It abandoned all pretense of actually being a real horror movie and wandered into the land of pure comedy…and failed miserably. This movie is like Bad Taste but on a higher budget (and regardless of what the fans want to pretend Bad Taste is a piece of s..t movie). The movie does have a plot that makes sense, again for this kind of movie, that has to be said but that lone does not make a good movie. There are literally NO really scary moments at all in this movie. The movie has plenty of gory stuff. Actually the gore is pretty much thrown at the viewer from the first scene to the last. Unfortunately much of it is so ludicrous that it is embarrassing. To add to the embarrassment a bunch of absolutely nonsensical characters are thrown into the mix. The so called Zombie Squad is just pathetic. The Norwegian police office makes me squirm in my seat. The puking pet zombie makes me want to throw up my supper. This movie is nothing but brain-dead people (and I am not talking only about the zombies here) and tasteless effects stacked onto each other. The only reason it does not get a single star is that there was one or two laughs in there and because some of the ludicrously overdone gory effects was not too bad from a technical point of view.As I wrote it was a major disappointment. This movie can only appeal to the die hard fans of the genre or, with its frequent puking scenes, bad jokes and senseless gore to people who … well I will not go there actually.

If you read my review of the first "Dead Snow" ("Død Snø") movie you'll know I really really enjoyed it, as such I was delighted when I found out about the sequel. Remember Martin from the first film who my or may not have been killed off despite being the only survivor of the Nazi Zombie's.... well it turns out he escapes!! Yes his day wasn't bad enough with accidentally killing his girlfriend with an axe, chain-sawing his own arm off, and watching in horror as his closest friends were devoured by a zombified Nazi battalion - he actually survives and has to not just live with the memories but he has to deal with being suspect number 1 - yes everyone thinks it was him and he is top of the most wanted list.If you think that the film makers couldn't improve on the first film then you'd be wrong. Capt (or Commander) Herzog's arm is attached to Martin by accident which gives Martin super zombie powers. Not only does Herzog want his arm back but he also wants any left over gold not collected in the first film. With Martin being captured by the town's police and a zombie army hunting him down it's only a matter of time before the Nazi zombies hit town and start causing problems. How do you fight against a blood thirst horde of Nazi zombies I hear you ask? Simple, resurrect some Soviet Nazi's and hey presto - WW2 revenge and a zombie massacre to write home about with glee.Thrills, spills, guts, gore, comedy, action... even some necrophilia 'dogging'!!! If enjoyed "Dead Snow" this is a must for you. If you are a zombie fan this is essential watching!! It's break from tried and tested zombie film formulas and delivers soooo much more. God bless those crazy Norwegians! The direction is great, the production values are great, the music, costumes, scenery, acting... all great - in fact I'm going to struggle to say anything bad about this. I guess the only warning I'd have to give out is that if you are easily offended, have a weak stomach, or don't like comedy and gore mixing then watch with caution. If you like a a no brainer gore fest which is as funny as it is bloody then full steam ahead for "Død Snø 2"!!

Starting right at the end of the first Dead Snow, Martin does not even have time to recover, as he must gather an army to stop the undead Nazis from completing the mission they were on before they died. It's a movie that pokes fun at the zombie genre while adding to it at the same time. Parodying itself makes for a great safety net for adding your own spin to the genre, but they did not need it. The more extreme the movie seems to get the better. I loved how outrageous the movie gets.My personal favorite was Martian Star as the leader of a group of geeks who claim to be Zombie hunters, only this is the first set of Zombies they ever go up against. It had a Lost boys type thing going on.It's rare that I've seen a bad Zombie movie, but it's even rarer that you see one that takes the genre up a notch, and that's Red vs. Dead.

OK let me start by saying that this movie is 100 mins of pure non sense and has no relevance to anything. But having said that this movie has its own charm and is a definite watch for all Z movie addicts. If your expecting a pure WWZ apocalypse, then this one does complete justice to the title, since eventually an all out war breaks off between the NAZI zombies and the SOVIET zombies and there is chaos in a comical way haha. Even in the middle of all the brutality , there is a sense of comedy which will surely make the viewers burst out into unstoppable laughter.Coming back to the gore element...this is a pure slasher with limbs and heads flying off everywhere, intestines being devoured by the undead and faces being chewed off like chewing gum. There is a good amount of nostalgia as well associated in this movie (you will understand if your a WWII movie fan) , as it redirects to the horror of the Nazis during the WWII in a very comical way...(and I mean really comical). Imagine a German tank, together with hordes of blood thirsty zombies brutally slaughtering and crushing all the women and children and the police or the army does not care at all.The setting is beautiful as the movie has been filmed in Norway, and it does good amount of justice to the movie as a whole. The cast does a good job, even though it doesn't consist of much familiar faces, but the ZOMBIE SQUAD totally rules!!! Hence I would conclude by saying..that if your looking for a well sought out Z flick, then look no further, DEAD SNOW 2 is what definitely you should be watching. As for me, this movie totally sorted out my weekend.
