Good story, Not enough for a whole film

I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Dead Snow was quite a good zombie film. It had a certain, modern low budget Evil Dead feel to it, with its blend of serious thrills and sprinkle of dark humor. It was a quick, fun, zombie film to watch with friends that delivered on the gore and action sequences. This was enough for me to want to watch its sequel directly after. Dead Snow 2 took me by surprise, building on its predecessor and completely surpassing it - which is what any good sequel should do. However, this is not just a good sequel, it is a great sequel, an awesome, totally irreverent comedy, horror, action film.Continuing immediately after the first film, our main protagonist is immediately thrown into the deep end. The film doesn't stop there, but goes completely all out by turning up on the crazy awesome factor by giving him powers through a zombie arm. If at this point you think this sounds idiotic and unbearable, then don't watch the movie. If you think this sounds idiotic and interesting, go ahead and proceed with watching it. You will not be disappointed with the course this movie takes.Along with the protagonist from the original film, comes new, clichéd, but enjoyable characters that really add to the humor in the film. We have a bunch of zombie slaying nerds from the USA, a sloppy and idiotic cop and his men, a homose...I mean heterosexual museum attendant, a zombie sidekick and of course, the Nazi zombie army. All have their great scenes and lines to deliver throughout the movie, living up to the B-movie level of craziness in the same vein as the Evil Dead 2.So the plot and characters are all interesting and add to the overall quality of the film, but what really makes this film what it is, is the action scenes. Irreverent, bloody, vicious and hilarious, the creators have really pumped up the action in this movie, delivering on what all zombie movies should have - unique, gory, over-the-top kills, and this movie has it in spades.I laughed too many times throughout as some of the coolest, most inventive kills took place in front of my eyes, where absolutely nothing was sacred. Nobody was excluded from the rampage of the Nazi zombies as they tore through men, women and children to reach the inevitable climax to end all the craziness. Not only is it all good fun, but the filmmakers also made sure everything looked really good. The practical effects were all really well done, from the thick, splattering blood, to the explosions of grenades and tank shells. The zombies themselves looked really cool, the unique ones all having their own look. This is one of those films where you can tell everyone was having a great time and doing really great work because of it.Overall, if you're a fan of zombie films, watch it. If you're a fan of dark, irreverent comedy, watch it. If you're easily offended by perverse, non-politically correct content, avoid at all cost so you don't ruin this for others. If you're not though, you're gonna have an absolute blast.Dead Snow 2 is awesome. It builds off the first one and catapults itself into unique territory to stand apart from other zombie films. It's violent, hilarious and a quick 1 hour and 40 minutes, that caps off with a great ending. I want a Dead Snow 3, but honestly, this movie ends in a way where we don't need one, because it's already a perfectly fine way to finish it all off.Dead Snow 2 is the sequel fans of the original deserved.8/10. A must watch for all zombie film enthusiasts.

Picking up right where the first film ended (not to worry if you haven't seen the first one, they tell the story in flashbacks at the beginning) Hertzog and his troop of Nazi zombies are back to get their revenge. A few things differ in this movie from the first. First of all, there are a lot more comedic moments in this sequel. But to make up for that there is also a ton more gore. Intestines are constantly ripped out, a few heads are stomped, a few impalements happen, and lots more. They also gave Hertzog and his zombies the ability to talk in this one, where they weren't able to in the first. Hertzog also has the ability to raise the dead to join his army, as does Martin, the only survivor from the last movie, who returns in this as well. One of the downsides of this movie, are some of the supporting cast, such as the two female members of the American zombie hunters, who while their supposed to be played for comedic effect, are more annoying than funny. All in all, this movie outdoes the original in almost every way. See it.

I found it no more than OK, but someone would appear to have appreciated it because Hollywood tapped director Tommy Wirkola up for 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters', starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.Again, critical reviews were somewhat frosty (no pun intended), but H&G:WH made a comfortable profit, and Wirkola has used his industry cred to come back to 'Dead Snow' for a sequel.The Hollywood influence is evident in several areas of 'Dead Snow 2'. It is considerably larger in scale, for a start, including pitch battles between the undead fascists and their new (or rather, old) Communist adversaries, as well as a tank, large numbers of extras, and a lot more daylight wide shots that indicate a higher budget.Then there are the American characters, leading to a lot of the dialogue being in English, which is bound to raise the international saleability. It is also a lot funnier. The original played it more-or-less as a straight horror, buying into the ridiculous premise, but the sequel highlights this incongruity for comedic effect.There are also a few jokes at the expense of the Americans, sly cinematic digs and a whole lot of gore that leans towards the slapstick side. It reminded me more than anything of the Finnish 'Nazis on the Moon' comedy 'Iron Sky', and that is a positive association in my book.The music is very well-used, and I detected hints of world-building in the nature and rules of the resurrection, raising the prospect of an entire 'Dead Snow' series. There are some slightly uncomfortable hints of terrorist Anders Breivik in the demented Norwegian main character, taking extreme actions in response to a threat others cannot (initially) believe, but maybe I am just reading too much into it.It's all exuberant fun, with a commendable sense of its own ridiculousness. Some of the gags are a bit low-brow for me, but others are genuinely funny, end even quite witty. Dead Snow 3? Why not, I'd watch!

Dead Snow was already an amazing movie, funny, brutal and a true gore-fest. Surprisingly enough the sequel happens to be even better compared to Dead Snow. It's very different compared to the previous movie, not only in setting but it's also funnier, even more brutal and it's filled with even better gore. Right after Martin's arm is being reattached (Idle Hands meets Dead Snow) you'll laugh your socks off with a certain reanimating scene. At that moment I knew how awesome this movie was going to be.I thought it was pretty cool that they did some sort of America-European crossover, mainly because I think it might prevent Hollywood from remaking Dead Snow. I like Martin Starr, he is in some of my favorite comedies and not to forget the great show Freaks and Geeks. I thought the Star Wars fan was a bit lame, but well, it fits the movie I suppose. Vegar Hoel returns as Martin and while he was a bit of a pansy in Dead Snow, he became pretty bad ass in Red vs. Dead. Definitely a great performance by Vegar Hoel. Another familiar face is Stig Frode Hendriksen (who also happens to be one of the writers, besides Vegar Hoel), who returns in a different role since his previous character was pretty much... well, butchered off.I must admit that the entire movie I felt incredibly sorry for the zombie-sidekick. Even though he had some pretty nasty moments, he was pretty much ****ed the entire movie. It was a nice touch to the movie though. Not so nice-looking was the zombie sex - gross! As with Dead Snow, the make-up was great looking in this part. Perhaps even better looking too, it was quite noticeable that the budget was a bit higher compared to Dead Snow. Nazi-zombies were never better looking than this. Some great camera-work and nice special effects as well.Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead is not only an excellent sequel, it's just an amazingly brilliant movie overall. It contains great acting, some good jokes and some great gore. Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead is even more over-the-top than the first one, and I LOVED it. Definitely not a movie everyone will enjoy, but for those who love movies such as Shaun of the Dead, Cockneys vs. Zombies and Evil Dead will most definitely like this one.
