It's night over here, and today are Jen and Sylvia's (The Soska Twins) Birthdays (April 29), along with their Mom, Ms Agnes. By honoring them, I watched their first film, which they wrote, directed, produced, and starred in as leading roles. Their parents were also producers. These four friends go through one hell of a ride, finding a dead hooker in a trunk. The action-packed scenes in this film will keep you on the edge of your seat. You've got insane gun fights, brutal beatings, chainsaws, torture, murder, mayhem, and a hell of a lot more. There are also some shocking scenes that will make you go, "WTF!" especially the ending. For those of you who haven't seen this film, I highly recommend it if you love a good hardcore film. F'N A flick right here. They are called the Twisted Twins for a reason, with their pure, twisted excellence that they bring to films with their directing or acting. I have so much respect for Jen and Sylvia, they're two of the most hottest, most incredible filmmakers, and now they're doing a remake of David Cronenberg's Rabid, which I can guarantee will blow all of our minds!!!

A Canadian horror exploitation film from the beautiful, twisted twins Jen and Sylvia Soska directors of 'American Mary' and tonight's movie is 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk'four friends set out on an everyday errand and end up in a fight for their lives when they discover the body of a dead hooker left in their trunk. Lead by a sexy, impulsive Bad Girl, her distant Geek twin sister, their bible thumping, Jesus loving Goody Two Shoes friend, and a chaotic, rock star Junkie pal, the group has to put aside their differences to dispose of the body before they're next. Thrown into their own personal purgatory, they face off against persistent police, a sleazy motel manager, chainsaw wielding triads, and a brutal serial killer.So 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' is pretty freaking good, not in a classical sense I mean the acting is kinda bad, the writing is very hilarious. The camera work is pretty good in a very amateurish way along with the music. This is really an achievement in exploitation film history for this being a tribute to exploitation films its a well made film on such a low budget, the effects are also in good for the budget. The characters have some traits and personality but not a lot. Then again you shouldn't expect an exploitation film called 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' to have deep complex characters and dialog and acting? Eli Roth horror director and one of the biggest fans of exploitation films said this movie was awesome and I must agree! On the gore meter from one to ten. one being something like 'The Corpse Grinders' ten being something like 'Braindead' 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' is a 4.5 or 5 lots of blood splatter, severed limbs intestines and surgeryIf you love bad sleazy exploitation revenge horror films then you owe it to yourself to check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed. 10/10 stars

All right... compared to "Citizen Cane" or "Mutiny on the Bounty", it might be a couple of stars... but it's not supposed to be a serious grand epic.To think the Soska Sisters made this movie in film school for $2500, IMHO, they deserve an academy award. Warner Bros or Universal, couldn't even get a van on location for that! What the hell do you haters & whiners expect?Yes, it contains gratuitous, cartoonish, over the top gore and violence, BUT THAT IS THE NATURE OF THE GENRE! I found the movie hilarious, fast paced and extremely entertaining.When rating a movie, I believe it is only fair to consider such factors as budget and genre. To really dog a movie like this, is like dogging a 1963 VW Bug compared to 2014 Porsche. It just ain't fair. For these reasons I rate "Dead Hooker in a Trunk" 8 out of 10 stars...

So many people have badmouthed this movie, I felt like I had to respond. First off, in fairness, I have to say that I rented this movie knowing nothing about it, except that I liked the title and a trailer I saw on another IFC disc. And, I spent the first 30 minutes rooting that a meteor would come and kill every character in the movie.But then, outrageous things started happening with little consequence. And the main two female characters started growing on me. And more weird stuff happened, and even the goody two shoes started to grow on me. I'm glad the meteor never show'd up.This is a funny, freaky movie, but you gotta give it time. Imagine my shock and delight to learn AFTER I HAD WATCHED THE WHOLE THING, that it was written and directed by a pair of women. And then, to discover that it's the two main female leads! Sexy, smart, wicked sense of humor (an almost guy-like sense of humor, if I might be so sexist).In the end, I enjoyed this movie a lot. It wasn't pretentious, high-brow or meant to be taken seriously, and I think that a lot of the bile being shot at it is because they 1) didn't go all the way through, or 2) were expecting something else.BTW, I didn't have any problem with the audio. But then, I always watch movies with subtitles on, cause I have a problem understanding dialog in the best of movies.
