RGV must be praised those days for trying something newOne such adventure which was latter tried by others is DARNA MANA HAI(03) of having multiple stories in 1 filmThe film however falls short of expectations though it's novelThe different stories are:Sohail- Antra Bad and boring Acting- Sohail has nothing to do, Antra is okaySanjay- Shilpa This story lacks logic which can be ignored but the treatment could be better, especially the portions showing characters making weird faces while eating apples is too much Yet a decent story Shilpa acts very well while Sanjay is okay Rajpal leaves a markVivek- Nana this is the best story and handled very well though it doesn't make much sense and they are flaws but that is forgiven The story makes for an edge of a seat story Acting wise Nana is brilliant as usual while Vivek too does a great jobAftab- Isha This story which was latter made as GAYAB(03) has it's moments and the scenes involving Aftab and his power is well handled The culmination too is good but some people may not agree with the story Acting- Aftab is very good and Isha is okaySaif- Boman This story is implausible but entertaining and well handled though flimsy Acting Boman and Saif are superb Raghuvir Yadav This story is well handled too Acting- Raghuvir Yadav excelsThe worst part of the film is the main story which appears too bad and the scenes involving the college friends are badly handled and the culmination of the film too is horribleAmongst rest Sameera is okay, Gaurav leaves a mark Sushant is okay

Now this was a true classic movie from Bollywood standards. I've had mix reactions about Ram Gopal Verma so far. Some of his classics include: Raat, Rangeela, and Road, whereas his major disappointments include Vaastu Shastra and Bhoot (foolish endings). However, "Darna Mana Hai" is a true classic! No songs, no wasting time. This is pure "edge of the seat" psycho thriller. Everyone played a great part from unknown people to Vivek, Nana, Saif and others. Antra mali played a good cameo in the first story that the group shares. Shilpa shetty and sanjay kapoor filled in pretty well as well. The Nana Patekar-Vivek Oberoi encounter was a true classic!!!!!!!!!! I would rate it as undoubtedly the best horror movie from Bollywood. 5/5

Notwithstanding the fact that it may be considered a cardinal sin to criticize Ram Gopal Verma's movie, I would rate this movie, at best, half-backed attempt, mainly due to its end. Most of the stories in the movie are interesting, the acting good, and it has all the chances to be a really good suspense movie. That it until the end where ghosts start walking, which makes the whole idea of the movie ridiculous, and totally absurd. Equally absurd is the story involving Nana Patekar (as an MTV reporter, of all things) and Vivek Oberoi. This entire sequence shows that Ram Gopal Verma was afraid to make a movie without submitting to the Indian psyche of associating ghosts with graveyards. This story also ruins all the other excellent stories, such as that of the apples, the schoolteacher, and the hotel etc. Verma started in the right direction at the beginning of the movie, but then perhaps the fear of losing the market by making a movie that does not show any ghosts coming out of a grave-yard screwed up his thought, and his movie.Definitely, this movie is better than most Bollywood garbage, but still not what one would expect of someone so much praised.

As a horror movie fan, I was really looking forward to my first Bollywood horror movie. Sadly, I don't think Darna Mana Hai worked. The first story, about a couple whose vehicle breaks down on a lonely road was acceptable enough even though the ending was very predictable. The second story, about a crazy hotel owner who detests cigarette smoking had a very good set up, but too much was left to ambiguity in the end. The third story, about a school teacher haunted by his past was probably the most stylish of the stories. It had an acceptable ending, but it needed more of a punch. The story about the apple vendor was just all-around silly. Was it supposed to be funny? The hitchhiker story was probably my favorite of the bunch. It was the only one that I felt really worked. Good set up, good pay-off with a punch. The final story, "Stop!" seemed to bother a lot of people on the IMDb, but I actually thought it worked. I especially liked the ending of the story. Simple, yet effective. The wrap-around story with the kids telling the stories was rather dull and predictable.I also have to take issue with the director's use of sound effects on the soundtrack. There is one sound-effect that is used quite, quite often. A sort of CCHHHKKK! sound that started to really get annoying after a while. It was distracting.I plan to see more Bollywood horror, but I hope they're better than this one.
