This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

First of all, the reviews that you see here are just fake. Many people claim that the movie is out of this world are Salman Khan's Fans and the other who dislike it are haters of Mr Khan. I have watched Dabangg 2 and let me be frank. First Dabangg Installment was Okay, not that great. Plot wise and story wise. Here Arbaaz being his first movie as a director done justice to the plot and story. Though the one liners are less but you love the love story of the married couple. It is simple not a high funda. Music is not good compare to the first one. Could have done something else when it comes to the songs. Salman Khan Steals the show completely along with Prakash Raj. Yes, you heard it right. Amazing act from both of them. Sonakshi Singh is okay along with others.First time after soo many years Salman Khan's movie has a good story which you can watch and this might be the few movies which can be watched second time not like Ek tha tiger which was a one timer. Action scenes are well justified keeping the plot in mind. This movie will be watched and liked by Salman Khan Fans and other also. The movie will get 4 stars from Komal and other reviewers, I bet. Movie collection will be decent close to more than 160 crore.Watch it and enjoy!AL_janaby

Salman Khan returning in the year's last festive season with his sequel of the blockbuster DABANGG was exciting news for many including myself. So, spiritedly as I glanced through the newspaper's entertainment section today, it was full of lists of theaters and uncountable shows of DABANGG 2 running all over the city like a carnival. Hence the very doubt of whether the film will work or not was completely out of question as there was no way it is going to flop with such a wide and mega release irrespective of its content. In fact that is the latest success formula of Bollywood in which you can make anything with the Stars and still churn out money, following this perfect business strategy without fail. Hence instead of thinking about the film's box office performance I was just interested in enjoying a good time in the theater with Salman and his hugely likable mannerisms and that's it.The film began with exactly a similar action sequence as seen in its part one and within few minutes it clearly revealed that there's only going to be a new city with some fresh villains in the storyline and nothing beyond that. Therefore in the entire first half we only have a smoothly progressing film with few occasional light moments and many songs but nothing great. However since its neither anything bad or intolerable so one doesn't mind watching it calmly till an impressive scene comes right before the interval providing you the much needed energy to stay in.Post intermission as one is willing to see many (predictable) fiery confrontation sequences with some never before kind of action performed by Salman Khan, it all suddenly happens pretty fast and ends on a very uninteresting note without making any kind of solid impact on the viewer. In other words, the second half doesn't have anything grand or significant happening on the screen in terms of clashes, dialogues or action which was a lot less than what was being expected from a DABANGG Part 2. Yet on the positive side, its clean entertainment all the way (except the avoidable FEVICOL song) lacking any novelty, reminding you of all those revenge based movies featuring Dharmendra in the 80s with titles such as PAAP KO JALAA KAR RAAKH KAR DOONGA. So all together we have a new age macho man here in the form of Salman Khan (who has a friendly image off and on screen), punching the villains in another new film of his based on a routine script and that's all.As a director Arbaaz Khan just calls the shots and rest is done by Salman Khan himself who visibly keeps improvising on the spot in most of his scenes. To be honest the Superstar seems to be enjoying every frame of his stardom in the film without any fear or doubt. And therefore we don't have Chulbul Pandey on the screen in reality but always Salman Khan playing the character given to him at his own pace or ease till the end. He entertains you with his dialogues, excels in his action and even makes you laugh through his awkward dance moments which in turn don't let you write off the film completely even if you wish to. Therefore as one walks out, he is neither willing to say that it is great nor able to rate it bad in actual terms which should be a good news for all the fans out there.Being a Salman Khan film, the entire supporting cast remains there to support only and never rises above that level as expected. Sonakshi plays it routine, Arbaaz is just okay, Vinod Khanna is fine but both Mahie Gill and Deepak Dobriyal remain wasted. Further it was really sad to see Prakash Raj once again being used as the same old villain waiting to be beaten by the hero in the end without any newly added gimmicks or flavor. To speak the truth here is an actor who is being used in great variety in South but always given the same repeated roles in each new big film without any vision here in Bollywood.Musically, it has a good soundtrack no doubt but still a little weak if compared to its part one. Though few of the tracks have already become chartbusters due to the star value associated with them, yet they are way behind DABANGG as far as the melody is concerned. Plus I have my own objections to the songs like 'Fevicol' which I have discussed in another write-up for all friends here in the link below.Summing up, DABANGG 2 doesn't really fulfill the responsibility of giving something different or new in the sequel after the big success of its original. Its just the same biryani with some newly added colours served to you in a fresh plate. But since the taste is not bad at all, therefore you may not mind having it once again just to satisfy your timely hunger.

Director Abhinav Kashyap positioned a fearless cop in rural India to challenge the vile criminals with the South Indian cinema inspired over-the-top action, item songs, goofy humor and dance moves. Salman Khan owned the character of Chulbul Pandey, the quintessential cinematic hero who rises at every occasion and dances at every opportunity. In all its ridiculousness, 'Dabangg' was an entertainer that brought a welcome change to the mass- appealing action genre. Little did Kashyap know that he would set off a wave of the South-Indian inspired films that took everything to another degrading level. Since there was no stopping the craze for the Robin hood Pandey, Arbaaz Khan took over the direction of the sequel and although it is quite obvious that he should refrain from any such future endeavors, Dabangg 2 retains some qualities that made its predecessor such a blockbuster. These qualities are namely dialogues and Salman Khan.Chulbul Pandey has been transferred to Kanpur, a city infested with the cunning unlawfulness of Bacha bhai (Prakash Raaj). While at home, he has light moments with his father, Pandeyji (Vinod Khanna), Makkhi (Arbaaz Khan) and of course, the wife Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha). The funnier moments though, are with the Police force that jokes, dances and reacts to trivial questions. Bacha bhai needs to maintain a good image in public on the eve of elections and therefore, for the first half of the movie, he mostly ignores Pandey's quest to eliminate crime in Kanpur. His brother, Genda (Deepak Dobriyal) confronts Pandey briefly in a memorable stand-off that triggers Bacha's pursuit of revenge on Pandey. Till their final confrontation of mortal kombat, both vengeful Bacha bhai and Chulbul Pandey stroll through a plot-less, aimless street that is the result of Arbaaz Khan's involvement in film-making. Meanwhile, the burden of providing laughter and engagement is upon Salman Khan's shoulders and he can only go that far by himself without support from any of the film's aspects. As it turns out, Arbaaz Khan made it simple enough for himself. He replicated some elements of Dabangg that pleased the masses, song by song and scene by scene. That left the script, story, characterization, cinematography, screenplay and direction as an afterthought to signing up Kareena Kapoor for the train-wreck of an item number that was Fevicol. A song every 15 mins just leaves the audience in frustration as the plot moves an inch towards the cliff. Even Munni and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan couldn't save us from the boredom that the crudely choreographed songs blatantly outshone the trifling music by Sajid-Wajid. The characters who became memorable in Dabangg are now written with no bearing for evolution and the potential that such a star-cast could provide, goes to sheer waste. Prakash Raaj is an outstanding villain. As Jaykant Shikre in 'Singham', his evil was both cunning and powerful. Not to forget, his superlative comic timing. As Bacha bhai, his talent is wasted when the opportunity laid a fine platform for a memorable character like Chedi Singh. Perhaps that is where Abhinav Kashyap's direction is missed the most. Even though Chulbul Pandey seems like the indefatigable, shrewd cop who will remain a step ahead of his nemesis, the villain's character brings the balance to the film and keeps the audience engaged in the plot. But it all went wrong here. Deepak Dobriyal is delightful in his brief role and Vinod Khanna is hilarious as the gullible father. It is indeed difficult to ascertain whether Arbaaz Khan is a worse actor or director and let's just put it this way, that there are far better newcomers to choose from than Sonakshi Sinha. The Police brigade seemed to enjoy the film the most and one can easily tell. They provide the witty one-liners and jarring dances that make this style of cinema appealing to the masses. Upon Pandey's inquiry about the nation's worrisome future, a constable's opinion is truly hilarious; "Country on deathbed Sir, full kidney phail Sir."Alas, that is all that the movie has to offer to even make it a shadow of Kashyap's Dabangg. It entertains in similar fashion but offers nothing new or refreshing. Salman Khan is noticeably bulkier with minimal movement of arms, legs and neck. It really is time for him to wear one size bigger now. Yet, his dialogue delivery, expressions and persona of being the fearless hero that saves every day are what make Dabangg 2 bearable. There is no other saving grace unfortunately and it sets yet another example why this genre of movies is decaying rapidly. Hopefully, producers realize that the opening week collections alone do not decide the fate of a film. 150 Cr may have sent them laughing to the bank but Dabangg 2 has done very little for its cast, its audience and the genre of masala movies. 6.20 on a scale of 1-10.
