It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

A construction crew opens a vault/tomb that was sealed during the Great Plague of London. This unleashes a zombie outbreak. The film concentrates on the old folks home and the young adults who rob a bank to get the money to save the home. Brothers Terry (Rasmus Hardiker) and Andy (Harry Treadaway) head up the group. They are aided by their cousin Katy (Michelle Ryan), bumbling ex-con David (Jack Doolan), and Mental Mickey (Ashley Thomas). Georgia King plays a hostage the guys try to pick up after they kidnap her.The film is a comedy and not a horror production as expected. It is not knee-slapping funny, but did make me laugh at some unique scenes such as drop kicking a zombie baby, attempting to kill a zombie with a metal plate in his head, a zombie gang fight, and of course the chase scene of a foot dragging zombie pursuing a man with a walker. Zombie fans just have to love it.Parental Guide: Plenty of F-bombs, no sex or nudity.

(57%) Very much a movie that owes a great deal of its existence to "Shaun of the dead", and to a large extent that's no bad thing. It shares a super simplistic plot of its predecessor, only here it has got its head in the clouds a great deal more with its comedy bank job scenes and 17th century mummified zombies. The laughs themselves aren't of an equal quality of "Shaun of the dead", and they mostly derive from the very cockney turns of phrase, with the very funny Alan Ford giving it both barrels whenever the opportunity arises, and the sadly no longer with us Richard Briers gunning down zombies with an uzi from his zimmer frame. Overall it isn't a comedy classic, but it does offer exactly what it promises.

That should pretty much tell you whether or not you'll enjoy this movie. If you're looking for a serious Walking Dead zombie film, this is not it. This is not a needlessly grim tale of a "realistic" zombie apocalypse. And no, this isn't Shaun of the Dead, either. Yes, it IS a British zombie comedy, but that's where the similarities end. Think of it as a British version of "Zombieland" meets "The A-Team". And yes, the movie IS as awesome as that sounds. This film takes a semi-realistic approach to the zombie genre. On one hand, we have the characters quickly realizing that the zombie apocalypse is upon them because, let's face it, pretending that zombie culture doesn't exist in your zombie film is so clichéd at this point. On the other hand, we have the characters using military-grade hardware to mow down the zombies and never having to reload except for a few times. The movie obviously drew influence from the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, which becomes quite obvious during the scenes with the old folks. I hold it as a rule that anytime old people are part of the main cast of an action/comedy film, you KNOW you're in for a good time. They take advantage of every old person joke you can think of: old people trying to out-walk the slow-moving shamblers, old people being senile when handed firearms, old people being hands-offish about hitting zombies with things, you name it, it's in here. And every joke works. The main young characters are all very likable and very entertaining, except for one arse-hat who has got to be the stupidest hostage I've ever seen in my life. Despite their criminal actions, they do it with the best of intent, trying to save their granddad and the old folks from having to move out of their comfortable nursing home to some undesirable place farther north. And after seeing what a lovable old crotchety asshole Granddad is, I agree that he is totally, unsarcastically worth keeping around.Granddad embodies this movie.

As long as you go in for a simple laugh, you won't be disappointed. A masterpiece this is not, but 90 minutes of entertaining, low-speed Brit zombie humor it is. The acting was decent all around, and Mr. Ford was wonderful as I'd expect. While entertaining, the slow, deliberate pace of the movie and the lack of any major climax left me wanting a bit more. If one were to compare the overall feel to Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, I'd say CvsZ doesn't come close in terms of pace, climax, ending or satisfaction. I'm glad I watched it and loved the humor but I caution anyone who intends to see it to go in with medium-to-low expectations and you will have a good time. The movie doesn't take itself seriously and you shouldn't either. It's just fun, don't try to get anymore out of it.
