All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

James Cameron has done it yet again. This mesmerising show was full of entertainment from start to finish. This is a 'Circus' like no other I have ever seen.To enjoy it to its fullest you should try to watch it in 3D because the results are spectacular.SPOILER BEGINS It begins with Mia (Erica Linz) going into the Big Top to watch the Aerialist (Igor Zaripov) perform but whilst he is performing he falls and is sucked through the circus ring sand into the dreamlike tent world of the Cirque du Soleil.Mia runs into the ring to try to save the aerialist but is also sucked in to this dreamlike world. She visits each tent in turn searching for the Aerialist and encounters a myriad acrobats performing in different ways along with other performers, dancers etc.SPOILER ENDS I have not seen a circus in decades, ever since I was a child but when I decided to see what this production was like I found myself totally mesmerised from start to finish. The 3D effects were impeccable and the whole production was a joy to watch.I have no hesitation in recommending 'Cirque du Soleil - Worlds Away' to anyone and everyone.James Cameron's Midas touch continues to astonish me.

I give it a four only because of the appreciation I have for all the people who performed in this movie. The excellent choreography is not be showed in this movie. The cinematography is horrible... If you see the any of the live shows from cirque du solei, it will be a totally different experience.I was really looking forward for this movie because I love their shows, and I knew the movie had already got the best performers, visuals and musics. But turns out... they didn't fully use these advantages... (There were some great shoots, but most are disappointments)I don't recommend you watch it if you are a royal fan of Cirque du Solei..

Confession: I have never seen a single real Cirque du Soleil show live. I have seen approximations of what it must be though, like the "Kaos" show at the Resorts World in Manila. While some stunts can be really breathtaking, I feel I cannot sit through an entire performance awake with its hypnotic instrumental soundtracks. I do not really like mimes and clowns as well because I find them and their facial make-up creepy.Anyway, I was curious to see what this movie was all about. Maybe because it carries the CdS name, yet it was a feature film. I thought there would be a real fleshed-out story interspersed with CdS numbers. Well, now that I have seen it, there was actually a skeleton of a love story between a girl and an Aerialist, with a collection of various best numbers from several CdS shows that the two encounter in the fantasy world under the circus ring, serving to move the movie along. This is basically a silent film, no dialogues nor narrations, just a rich musical soundtrack.Frankly I only liked the main protagonists and their story, the girl and the Aerialist she is fascinated with. So when they were not on screen, I felt bored. Lucky there were several numbers from the Beatles "Love" show to keep me awake -- because of the Beatles songs though, mind you, not really the performances. The best number for me was the one at the end when the girl and her Aerialist reunite and perform their daring and graceful pas de deux in the air. That special moment alone was already worth the price of admission. However, you can really see and appreciate the amount of acrobatic talent, bravery and production expense in each CdS show. This film is really for fans of CdS who want to watch all the currently running CdS shows but cannot. Aside from "Love", this film incorporates numbers from "O", "Ka", "Mysterie", "Zumanity" and others. For people who are curious about CdS but could not afford their expensive tickets, then this would be a good introduction.

This film is ballet, racked up to the nth degree. It follows the search by a young woman for an aerialist with whom she has fallen in love at first sight. As such, the plot is basic in the extreme, but that's not the point. The point is to wonder at the feats and the showmanship that defies belief. The film consists of a series of montages as gymnasts perform feats of such power, skill, courage and beautiful grace that I found it literally incredible. At times I found it hard to believe that what they were doing was physically possible. For example, two female trapeze artists swing high above the ground. One dives headlong, and they catch each other with their feet, the one held upside-down by the feet of the other. Amazing enough if they had carefully positioned themselves so, but do do it as one fell had me questioning how that was physically possible. The set pieces were balletic, even when dancers contorted themselves into eye-watering positions. Each move appeared fluid and effortless, even though beyond the range of any normal person.I also enjoy the mechanicals, equipment and props that all added to the effect without detracting. A yurt, for example, transforms into a flying machine, the wings acting as naturally as a bird's, but operated by two of the cast, in plain view but somehow invisible at the same time. The action was very, very clever, but the vision had me wondering what sort of experimental drugs the designers were on. It is a truly surreal experience. For once, I enjoyed the 3D. It was well done and actually enhanced the experience. My one criticism is that, although only 91 minutes, it seemed longer. Some of the set pieces tended to drag on. The vertical fight scene, for instance, whilst a very clever idea and well executed, began to drag after a few minutes. I would have preferred some of the scenes to be shorter, with a wider variety of acts and scenes, but that said, it was well worth the money and time to see.
