Let's be realistic.

... View MoreIll spare you a summary but there are some spoilers. Most of the movie wasn't all that good. The same music, mixed and mastered into the track the same way. Some of the acting was definitely off, and it ticked ME off when Pancho's friends didn't understand the concept of laying low. I would have stood up and walked out! When Pancho gets shot, and the scenes go through all the deaths, and you see big Pat with the Homocide Detective, I started getting a little depressed almost. That sucks! But still the acting is off (at times), and the film editing is strange at times.But... when you find out about the secret money he left his family, and how Keisha started her own company, that's when the depth set in for me, and I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that it was a good movie. MUCH deeper than Belly, or other hip hop/rap classics.Pancho knew that he may just be shafted, and that his entire life had been completely meaningless and unfulfilled. When he realized there was no going back, he set in motion the plans to get his family out of there! Unfortunately Pancho had to lose his life, but I know he died happy because he did one thing, one thing that helped make the lives of two people much better, than let the system keep doing its thing. And that gave meaning to his life, best he could! Phewf... 7 out of 10, maybe 8 if you're a little stoney.
... View MoreThis is by far the best hood movie i have seen. The whole story line just draws you right into the movie right from the opening scene. It has a positive message in it. The rappers Three Six Mafia( DJ Paul & Juicy J, Project Pat) do an excellent job as well. You would think that they were veterans at acting and not amateurs. The music in this movie was perfect! Every scene was backed up by the perfect background music. The music director did a good job on selecting music(not the rap songs) for certain scenes. DJ Paul and Juicy J will make you laugh in this movie! It comes down to a very sad ending. You kind of hate to see what happens to Three Six Mafia in the end. It is a good movie. Even if you don't like Three Six Mafia, you still will enjoy this movie. If you are a "Hood" movie collectector, this one should definitely be in your collection. The sequel sucks!
... View MoreThis is the DVD movie that comes from the Choices II soundtrack. While Three 6 Mafia are considered gods in Memphis for their music, they fall short in the full length film. Staring all the members of Hypnotize Minds (the record label owned by Three 6 Mafia) really lets you see your local legends in a whole new spotlight. Lil Wyte makes his film debut here as well. The reason I only give this move 7 stars is because of the major flaws in the production of this movie. 1) The plot is extremely hard to follow due to the constant muttering of the "actors". 2) The sets are very poorly done. 3) Special lighting is non existent. There are positive aspects of this movie... Well at least one, you guessed it: the soundtrack, as it is the choices II album. Its worth wasting a couple stoned hours on, but don't expect anything or you'll turn it off after the first scene.
... View MoreChoices, a 2001 straight to video release stars Memphis, Tennessee rap legends DJ Paul and Juicy J. It also stars Project Pat, a charismatic actor in his own right, Playa Pancho, and La Chat. I thought before I saw the video that it would be a routine movie about guns, drugs, and killing. I was wrong, Choices is a movie about one mans struggle to overcome a criminal past, poverty, the temptations of his neighborhood friends and the allure of quick money. The music, an array of hard hitting, haunting songs from the Hypnotize Minds Record catalog gives this film a definite, realistic street edge and exaggerated insight to how dem boyz live in Memphis. The song "Choice Of Colors" by soul legend Curtis Mayfield is used to great effect at the beginning of this film, for it gives the film somewhat of a 1970's retro feel. The main character played by Player Pancho goes through so much in this film, that it is easy for the viewer to identify with him and his struggles. This film has a surprising ending that demonstrates yes we do have choices, but do we really have a choice in how we end up in life, because of the choices of other people. I give this film **** stars/excellent Music:***1/2 tight. It is on dvd, Check it out.
