... View Morewhat a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
... View MoreClose shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
... View MoreI was upset this was not in a theater near me so thanks BET! I've only been to two strip clubs in my life...one in Miami...and this movie right here captured the authenticity 💯%! If you missed it...don't listen to others reviews...watch it for yourself! I truly enjoyed this movie much more than the Mike move. The acting was on point. Michael Jai White...very convincing...Dee Jay...funny as always...loved seeing Imani back on the screen...Darin dang you still got it....alright now Tyson...Vivica...yep you played that mama...Ri'Chard wow hard to say this since we watched you grow up on television/ movies...YOU DID THAT CUTIE PIE! THEN they threw in the pros....good gawd Bolo!!!!! The others were great too...just don't know who was who but for a good night out....all will do! There were also some surprise cameos...ya'll did good!My bottom line: Hands down...better script, better acting and DEFINITELY BETTER DANCERS AND DANCING ROUTINES! Will watch again and again!
... View MoreI usually don't post, but before I bought the movie I read reviews, and they were scathing. They condemned this movie to hell, but it wasn't that bad.I try to support African American and Indie films, and I have seen some bad ones... like really bad. I think it was a happy medium for those who want to watch independent films, but aren't extremely raunchy. I feel like they were still trying to catch some of the AA church patrons who buy indie films and help blow up Tyler Perry, so there is only so far that they could go. I like Robert Ri'chard as an actor, I think he did an excellent job. In my opinion, the script was predictable, but so is everything else now days. When was the last original horror film, and isn't everything coming out a remake or sequel just about. If you want to see black actors, who you otherwise don't get to see regularly in major motion pictures or on television, tell a familiar story with some music you can groove to while grinding their super sexy bodies, this will do it. No, it is not a major Hollywood production. Yes, it made me smile. Yes, it made me chuckle a little, and hell yes it made me want to go grab my man.The movie was 3.99 on amazon to watch, I spend more than that on a burger. Why not support the AA movie movement and have a little fun in the process? I just wanted to write to show some love for the work that these people did.
... View MoreThis movie is so much better hands down. If they put this out before Magic Mike I'm sure it would have gotten better ratings. Stop trashing it just because they're black,I know that's the reason why people are trashing the film because I've seen some of the reviews and message boards trashing on it because of these mens color I think people need to stop being petty and get over that mess and focus on the movie for what it is pure entertainment. If you don't want to watch the movie because they're black and you think they're taking something from Magic Mike just stop it because you know there's millions of other movies out there that take the same story line and use different actors all the time. Anyways that's my two cents if you haven't seen the movie check it out you wont be disappointed bunch of beautiful men and bodies you can't go wrong =D
... View MoreThe gorgeous Robert Ri'chard stars in a typical college student- come-stripper story in Chocolate City. Urged by his brother Chris McCoy, played by a sorta-funny DeRay Davis, Michael McCoy somehow finds his way (who really cares how he got there we just care that he is there) to a dance floor where he dances topless for cash. I don't want to spoil the movie for you (ha ha) but I must say, I don't understand why anyone who is even remotely attracted to the male species would give this movie less than 10 stars. This movie delivered EXACTLY the package it sells, and more. The dancers unfold like chocolates out of a Godiva box! Bitter Dark (Tyson Beckford), Sweet Caramel (Robert), Hunky Milk Chocolate (don't know his name but he is the first dancer and he alone was worth the ticket). The dancing was crazy! 1000% better than Magic Mike (sorry Channing) on sexiness of the dance, much smoother and gave you a glimpse at what REALLY goes down in the club, not the watered down version. Moral of this critique is - if you like looking at hot men, you will LOVE this movie. If you are looking for a great, life changing movie with an amazing script that grips your emotions and inspires you to look at life differently you will probably not find that here. Unless of course you started the movie not liking men and then by the end became a full fledged queen, which I could totally see happening. They were that hot.
