A doctor hires an escort to seduce her husband, whom she suspects of cheating, though unforeseen events put the marriage in danger. Chloe wastes a good cast and idea early on in the film since everything that it does is a mistake and a bland direction that doesn't even go anywhere to begin with. (0/10)

I happened upon this movie after browsing my favorite Netflix section: "Independent."Without knowing anything about the film, I was immediately drawn in by the stellar casting of Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, all of whom are insanely talented and believable actors. While some elements were predictable, it didn't matter because the execution on all levels was so captivating. A story is a story, but the telling of the story is what makes for the emotional connection. For a slow-paced psychological mystery, this film does an outstanding job of delivering masterful scenes one after another.********************************** SPOILER ALERT ********* SPOILERS ************One of the hottest scenes in cinema is when Catherine has revenge-jealousy-anger- exploratory sex with Chloe. With so much tension wrapped in lead up to the scene, it is beyond satisfying to see it play out so solidly and solemnly. The big twist for me was that Chloe actually fell for Catherine. For someone who is detached from the people she has sex with, it was extraordinarily powerful when she let her guard down and fell for Catherine. The weight of this scene and relationship was revisited in the end when Chloe forces Catherine to kiss under the threat of being killed. Even though it was super suspenseful (for fear Catherine would be murdered), it played as one hundred percent erotic, filled with all the emotions of the relationship between the two women.Side note, the way Chloe managed to have sex with all three members of the family was completely brilliant and plausible. I loved the angst the film brought by letting the audience know how Chloe was sleeping with everyone behind each of their backs. Then when I saw the credits roll, I was pleased to see that it was made by the director of one of my favorite films called Exotica. Atom Egoyan. An incredible director, he has a talent of bringing sex into real world relationship dysfunction. My one gripe with this movie is that I wish, somehow, they would have all reconciled and that Chloe would end up healthy. I so badly wanted somebody to love her. The ending was a downer for me and I really wanted Chloe to end up feeling like she discovered a new place in the world. Still, a strong film that I highly recommend for those who enjoy relationship dynamics.

We all have those actors we never really manage to click with, whom most likely have some kind of obvious promise and talent but just don't sit well with us and mine has always been Seyfried. I just don't like her, I think she's overrated. Chloe however is underrated as I hadn't ever heard the name of the film before, even though the actors involved such as Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore are household names. It wouldn't appeal to everyone, the film isn't funny, scary, thrilling or anything as such but its an intricate character piece and is more or less fascinating to experience. Think Fatal Attraction meets Roman Polanski's Carnage. There's a heavy amount of character development throughout which always prompts perspective of a benevolent director, he knows what the audience wants and promises something we only receive ten minutes before the end. Unfortunately for Egoyan's audience, it's slightly anti- climactic and we're left with plenty of unanswered questions. The acting is fantastic, really. Even from Amanda Seyfried who I've already mentioned as usually managing to turn me off from a film, but even her I found to be effortless and cool in the delivery of the title character. The chemistry between Moore, Neeson and Seyfried is taut, real and memorably erotic. Unfortunately overall, I wouldn't clamber to watch it again but I did find it enjoyable and stimulating for the duration. Recommended. 6/10

From the start I was comparing this film to "Nathalie", the original French version of this film. They're pretty much the same besides the few twists that occur in this film. Like the original Catherine (Julianne Moore) hires a prostitute, Chloe (Amanda Seyfried), to seduce her husband, David (Liam Neeson), whom she thinks is cheating on her. I wasn't surprised at anything that happened in this film being that I saw the original French version but I thought it was still pretty good and it still kept me interested. One extremely good thing about this film was the cast. Being that Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors and I enjoy seeing Julianne Moore's work I couldn't pass this film up. both of them were momentous. This film was a little different from the others I've seen Amanda Seyfried in but she was well fitted for the part. This film, like it's French original, is pretty decent. Rather you see one or the other or both it really doesn't matter. Like I said earlier they're pretty much what and what.
