Wonderful character development!
... View MoreThe greatest movie ever made..!
... View MoreTrue to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
... View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
... View MoreWhen my dad told me that he had found this film to be very disappointing and not much fun,I kept pushing the film back to the bottom of the pile,of things that I needed to watch, and, now that I have at last seen the film,I keep thinking why did I keep pushing it back for so long!.Due to the film having a fun light-John Huges feel, with some good performance, and some great dialogue. The plot:A group of four high-school friends (Sammy,Handsome,Victor and Applebee)do everything they can to "asits" the other students in the school,by giving them all of the answers to the exam questions!Although the groups cheating is risked at being discovered, when they are caught by the schools janitor trying to steal a doctors file about one of the other students.Due to this,Sammy feels that it is time the he stops cheating, and that he will do the final school exam without cheating at all. With tensions building in the group, (mainly between the "jock" member of the group (Victor) and the intellect (Applebee)Handsome has to do his best to make sure that the group can hopefully hold together long enough to get the answers to the final exam.View on the film:With the cast,I think that whilst Elden Hensons role as Sammy is under written in the second half of the film, due to him turning into the "moral" high ground of the film,I feel that he and the rest of the cast work well together,in the huge amount of scenes that the whole cast feature in,and they all have very good chemistry with each other. One of the odd thing that I think the studio did,was to push the film with a very badly done American Pie style poster. When actually, writer/directer Andrew Gurland film has more in common with John Huges amazing 80s period.Whilst there are a few odd plot holes in the script (why do none of the students use mobile phones or computers to get the cheats?)Gurland thankfully fills the film with lots of really fun dialogue, (when Handsome is asked why is Applebee in the group,he says it is because "He writes crazy small crib notes!")by having what could be seen as card-board cut-out characters, being given enough charm and snappy lines that,it is very hard not to warm to the gangFinal view on the film:A great 80s inspired teen comedy, with a pretty funny script.
... View MoreHandsome met Sammy when they were very young and no one wanted to be Sammy's friend because he was fat. They became notorious cheaters, and along with their friends Victor and Applebee, they could do just about anything. At North Point Academy, however, Principal Stark made their lives very difficult. Eventually, it seemed the group would fall apart. But would they? Would they really be able to give up cheating? The first half of this movie was pretty good, and often funny. Trevor Fehrman gave a great performance as the obnoxious and crafty Handsome. Mary Tyler Moore wasn't exactly Mary Richards, and I'm not even sure her acting was that great here. In the second half, though, she showed Principal Stark to be more than just an evil monster. Morris Panych was pretty good as a strange science teacher who may have been gay and had crazy ideas about what students could handle. And Chang Tseng was funny in a couple of scenes as the janitor. For the girls, Trevor took his shirt off for no particular reason a couple of times, and Matthew Lawrence had a great smile. I was more interested in Maggie Lawson, however. She was one of the students who could have found herself dragged into one of the guys' schemes. I won't say whether she stayed on the good side. The second half of the movie wasn't as funny, and the comedy was often dark. Some of the schemes bordered on the hilarious, and not everything worked as well as hoped. But I found the ending satisfying. This wasn't a classic, but it was enjoyable at times.
... View MoreThe first time I saw this movie was on HBO, and I didn't get to see the entire thing, but I was won over anyway. So, I ended up renting it and I laughed the entire time. Trevor Fehrman really made this movie. The absolute best part in this movie is when Victor, Sammy, Applebee, and Handsome get caught cheating and Handsome is in the car with his father.Mr. Davis: "Well, I hope you're happy."Handsome: "I hope you're happy."Mr. Davis: "You know, Handsome, when are you going to give up cheating? Just stop."Handsome: "Yeah, Dad, two words: Dog Porn."Mr. Davis: "I...What..I don't know what you're talking about."Handsome: "It was in the back of your closet."Mr. Davis: "Really, Handsome you've got to stop."Handsome: "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DOBERMAN?"I laughed for about a week about this particular scene. And I'm really upset that more people don't watch this movie. It's probably my favorite movie now. It is hilarious.
... View MoreThis is not your typical movie about cheating. It had much more to offer. These four kids cheat their way through high school, but the ways they do it are not farfetched like some other movies. Very funny movie. Watching this movie takes me back to when i was in high school. Plus Fulton from the Mighty Ducks is in it, but he has blonde hair.Rating: Eight Thumbs Up
