I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

To be fair, the acting was great. Everything else was terrible. The entire plot and especially the ending were very disappointing. (Spoiler) Basically, at the end, it is revealed that all the rest of the main characters are ghosts. This includes Charlie's brother and love interest. While it was obvious from early-on that Charlie's brother was a ghost, that was not the case with the girl, making for a very disappointing ending that went nowhere.

This film had scope to be well put together and enjoyable. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Having thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful book this film was adapted from, this was an extreme disappointment. I am used to films changing the plot of an original story slightly, adding the odd dramatic scene, but this really ventured off the mark and felt rushed, badly acted and fundamentally boring. Such a shame, if this had a better selection of actors and actresses, followed the story more closely and was longer...it could have been memorable.Essentially this is eye-candy for the fans of film romance, and may tick the boxes for those who have not read the book. If you have, then you are mad if you feel anything but disappointment towards this film.3/10 for holding my attention all the way through.

in fact, interesting. for story. for presence of Kim Basinger and Ray Liotta. for nice characters. and, first, for Zac Efron metamorphosis. far from High School series, he does a seductive role and the lines of romanticism are perfect for sustain a character between worlds and duties. it is not a great film but its gifts are not smalls. echo of expectations of readers , fans of young Zac, hunters of romance and life after life, personal experiences or memories from old corners, it is nice piece of reflection, dream and entertainment. and this virtue is fundamental. short, it is the film of Zac Efron. his proof to be more than the universal teenager. and it is the second fundamental virtue of this movie about the things who gives sense to existence.

Burr Steers has directed adequately this teenage film that will likely not appeal much to the adult population. There is little saving grace to this picture except to say that it is spiritual and directed toward the puerile mind. Zac Efron is the star of the show, and he gives an adequate performance as Charlie St. Cloud. His costar (Charlie Tahan) plays the younger brother, Sam, who is cute and must be appealing to all. There are a few cute moments of comedy. And there is sufficient tragedy to please the younger audiences, however, despite that fact and despite some nice music and photography, I cannot recommend this cinema to the frequent movie goer or to those who seek to rent it on Blu Ray DVD. My usual favorable streak of reviews for films was broken by this flick, a time wasted for adults who seek a more significant story line and more dynamic acting. I must add that I discourage one from renting it unless you have nothing better to do, i.e. text messaging or commenting on FB. This one got a level 2 from me.
