The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Don't get me wrong from the Summary,it's not a movie on a plane, but it's about a missing child that the police doubt her existence. It's a straight to the point movie without any extra unnecessary events, it starts with a scene of the child's family moving from US to England. Then when the mother goes to retrieve the daughter from the school after her first day there, she does not find her and what make it worse that no one saw or had a trace of the child. The movie has a good rhythm and you will not get bored easily watching it, watching the performance of actors is really a great experience, specially the always worrying look on the face of "Carol Lynley".The few characters involved gave the movie a good spirit, however it didn't affect the quality of the plot but it enhanced it by the variety of theories trying to explain the accident. Finally, it's a good classic mystery/thriller movie that will give you a good finale but it lacks the adrenaline rush throughout it.

The American single mother Ann Lake (Carol Lynley) seeks out someone in the nursery Little People's Garden School in Hampstead. She finds a German cook and explains that she has just moved from the United States to London and she left her daughter Bunny Lake at the First Day Room alone with a baby. Now she needs to receive the delivery men at the apartment she rented and she needs to leave Bunny for a moment and the cook says that she can check on her daughter. When Ann returns, she does not find neither the cook nor Bunny and no one in the nursery seems to have seen the girl. Ann calls her brother Steven Lake (Keir Dullea) and the police. Superintendent Newhouse (Laurence Olivier) investigates the case with his men and there is no evidence of the little girl. Soon he begins to question whether Bunny Lake does exist or is Ann's imaginary daughter."Bunny Lake Is Missing" is an intriguing and mysterious thriller directed by Otto Preminger. The screenplay keeps the mystery and the tension until the end, when the viewer discovers the truth about Bunny Lake. The black and white cinematography is beautiful and the film shows the English rock band The Zombies in a television broadcast. My vote is eight.Title (Brazil): Not available on DVD or Blu-Ray.

Bunny Lake is missing is an unusual film. The kind of movie the English used to excel in. No Car chases. No romance. No murders.Stylishly filmed.Dark brooding atmosphere. The film is elevated by Lawrence Olivier and Noel Coward. His scene with Lynley, where he tries to seduce her must rate as one of the most uncomfortable and creepy scenes on film. Her reactions in this scene are not believable and frankly, pretty bad acting and scripting.I think casting her for this role was a mistake. It was a pretty ordinary performance by her.In some scenes she is very good and believable, and in other scenes she is terrible. A really good actress would have elevated this movie quite a bit. Keir Dullea , playing her brother was the real star here. Slightly over the top acting, but it kinda worked. It is really like 2 movies. Everything changes at the doll hospital scene. Before this it is interesting, mysterious and fairly slow paced. From then on the pace accelerates. The storyline goes to a weird place, and even some of the main characters totally change their character and behavior. It becomes more than a bit psychedelic in the second part. Another strange scene is the one in the pub with Olivier and Lynley. The 1965 Zombies UK pop group appear on the TV and do about 3 very forgettable Zombie songs while the scene is on. Why ? The big mistake in the film was that police were told to look for a young blonde child with an American accent. When she turns up, she has a very British accent. Oops ! It's worth a watch, but could have been so much better.

Maybe I am the first non UK or US person who post a review here about this film. I think the film was for Premminger, a opportunity to show his anxiety about the fragility of the western democracy. The film was made few years after the very terrible years of McCarthy time, where the repression and persecution by political reason typical for a totalitarian state. In "Bunny Lake Is Missing" he try to show how easy the state institution can lose there function and can become a tool for abusive and repressive Ararat. It 's help us to know Otto Premminger background if we want to understand his movies. He is much more sofisticate than the usual Hollywood film maker, maybe that's the reason why he use to make theater in NY.When we watch his movies we can think from the ideological point of view he was a humanist, a kind of left-liberal. He has not really a country, he belong not really to a nation, but he is a great human. Therefore the film "Bunny Lake Is Missing" is more a subversive film than a Hitchcock copy.
