The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

This really is the stupidest vampire film ever. It is not big and it is not clever. The actors are good but the film is terrible. It is too tame for a vampire film and it is too boring for a teen film. The series is much better than this shallow rubbish, stick to binge watching the series.

Pike has met a new girl who is a cheerleader, beautiful, spoiled and recently been called as a slayer. A woman chosen by fate to hunt vampires and demons. What he didn't know is he has staked her heart. Now he must help her defeat a Master vampire and his army of undead from sucking the town dry. I find the movie to pale in comparison to the TV show of the same name, but it does have a few good merits to its name. The beginning starts out with the slayer being introduced as a narrator explains what they are and where vampires comes from. The voice is very rich, deep and creepy. We cut to Buffy leading the cheerleaders in an upbeat dance number reminisce of 80s films.Another scene deserving of recognition is Buffy facing her first vamp. A huge event where the supernatural is revealed. The look of terror on her face and her clumsy attempt at her first staking.Paul Ruben plays the lackey Amylin who livens up the screen every time he appears and leads to some of the best jokes in the film.Lothos the vampire king could've been scary, menacing and powerful but behind the stage politics prevented that from happening.Buffy becomes estranged from her friends and her watcher dies draws her closer to bad boy Pike. It seems they were destined to find one another and had genuine affection for one another. At the end the vampires attack causing Buffy to face her fears and destroy the demons of the night. The vampires are defeated as our favorite couple drive off into the sunset. The film really shows female empowerment by one girl taking on an army and dealing with a centuries old villain by relying on herself instead of another. The deaths of these powerful men is patriarchy ending and matriarchy rising up to take its place. Her relationships to her watcher and boyfriend add a human element and means she doesn't have to act alone or rely fully on a watcher.I rate it 6/0

Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes on all those too cheesy and too lame teenage fantasy adventures you might see and turns them into something of a smart comedy that has edge and is real. Kristy Swanson is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Swanson gives Buffy a too real vibe with an impressive show. She's outstanding. Kristy's a great choice for the classic part, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Kristy can really act her way around a movie set. She is sooo hot, like, the hottest. I love Kristy Swanson. I love her in everything I see her in. I didn't get enough Kristy Swanson through her short lived career. Watching this helps. I love her in 8 Heads in a Duffle Bag and in The Chase. Kristy Swanson makes Buffy the Vampire Slayer worth watching more than just once, along with the rest of the really good cast. Donald Sutherland supports Swanson effortlessly acting from the shadows so to not take away from Buffy's story. Teen heartthrob Luke Perry brings a bit of his bad boy attitude. Funny man David Arquette brings some of his freaky deaky nature. Pee Wee Herman, Paul Reubens, brings a bit some of his wild imagination. Hilary Swank is seen in beautiful form. Hilary, now, Hilary, can act. She can like seriously, act. Hilary. This fun movie is really campy, but it pays off by the end. Kristy Swanson, I love how nice it is to see you.
