While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

Blistering performances.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Never have I ever been so angry while watching a movie and yet so incredibly tired. I don't think I've yawned this much since watching Red Zone Cuba. I should probably preface this by saying I'm a huge fan of the original novel this film is based off of, a 1000 page epic that combines the setting of Planet of the Apes with the storytelling of I am Legend. It's a good book and I highly recommend reading or listening to it. But even after all that I was not prepared for the sheer level of awful that this movie was. Every actor is miscast, every set and costume look too fake, the cinematography literally makes this film almost impossible to watch, the music is unmemorable, every shot is bathed in hideous garish color filters, and the plot holes....oh god the plot holes. Not only are there thousands of things that don't make sense from just watching the movie on it's own, but after reading the book I saw that they deliberately went the extra mile to not make sense! The acting and dialog are the stuff of legends, some times the actors forget to react, or start laughing or howling out of nowhere. And this film might have the cheapest and lamest special effects I've seen that wasn't part of the Syfy channel. And even after all of that I was still so very tired and bored watching this, that's a special brand of bad film making right there. If you can make it through this two hour monstrosity, you have my respect.

I grew up reading Sci-Fi and still do. Some classic science movies are made to make us think while some, like this one, are made for entertainment. If you relax and enjoy the special effects you would like the movie too. If you begin to question how you think things should look after time or apply scientific reasoning to everything, you will hate it - like most did. Leave the "Oh! That couldn't happen" thoughts out, lighten up, sit back and enjoy a good action movie like I did. I watch it every few months and still don't see why so many people trashed it, I really like it.

How does a movie like this even get made. The shots are all slanted at 45 degrees. the production design looks like crap, and the CGI is GOD AWFUL! John Travolta is WAY over the top in this movie. These aliens are supposed to be so advanced and smarter than us but they are all dumb ass'. One of the dumb scenes is the food scene. John Travolta wonders what food that human like the most. They assume that they like rats but the humans chose rats because they were starving. Honestly I could write so much for this but I want to keep it small. I do have to talk about the end where the aliens planet is blown up by one small bomb. Yeah the writing and story is that bad! Please stay away from this movie.

There has never been an 'official' worst film ever, it is usually opinion. Several titles are often cited, such as Robot Monster, Plan 9, Manos: The Hands Of Fate, Troll 2 and Jack & Jill. Another that is often called the worst ever is this film, and I agree.Based on the first half of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's novel, the film is about humans who live on Earth in the year 3000 after the Psychlos have conquered the planet. The main villain Terl (John Travolta) is the head of security on Earth and his assistant is played by an almost unrecognisable Forest Whitaker. The hero Jonnie (Barry Pepper) is a human who wants to take back Earth from the aliens. It is simply a bad movie in every aspect. The camera work is terrible with all the tilts, the music is so exaggerated at times that you think the wrong track was dubbed, the editing between scenes looks like a PowerPoint slide transition, and the lighting/cinematography also looks awful. Costumes look bizarre, especially Travolta who looks like he has snot dripping from his nose the whole film. Then we get onto the worst parts of it all - the dialogue and acting. Travolta gives one of the worst performances in film history as the villain Terl, over-acting every line as much as is humanly possible (or maybe more as he is an alien in the film). Co-stars Barry Pepper and Forest Whitaker are not much better, although they never could have been with such a poor screenplay. It doesn't surprise me that writer Corey Mandell, who re-wrote JD Shapiro's first draft, has not worked since, as the dialogue is laughably bad, particularly that of Travolta's character. As well, the plot of the film is a disjointed mess which has no structure at all, and some ridiculous plot holes. Some people made their minds up due to being against Scientology, however, there is nothing about Scientology in it. That's not why it got it's reputation. It earned its reputation by being a dreadful film. One of the only times I would rate a film 0 if it was possible.
