... View MoreAn action-packed slog
... View MoreIt isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
... View MoreThis movie follows two small breweries: one facing a lawsuit and one just starting up. It's a great watch if you're into the craft beer scene. It's especially relevant if you've ever thought (or dreamed) about opening a brewery, or just wondered about what all might be behind opening one. The plights of these two breweries give viewers an in-depth look into two of the many issues than can arise. The filmmakers have also added some interesting interviews with some really well-known names within the industry. The interviews add some nice tidbits of craft beer knowledge. There are also some beautiful camera shots. Craft beer lovers, we have our movie.
... View MoreI absolutely loved this documentary. It provides a fascinating primer on the craft beer industry and while following the lives of several young brewers who are bold/brave/stupid enough to follow their dreams against the odds. If you're even a tiny bit interested in beer, this is the movie for you. If you like feel-good uplifting documentaries, this is the movie for you. If you're that other reviewer "haggis" who really loves macro breweries and is easily offended, you should pick up yoga or marijuana or something because you seem disproportionately upset after watching a 71 minute documentary. Anyways, I can't recommend this highly enough. Check it out!
... View MoreBlood, Sweat & Beer is an uplifting look at all that is quintessentially American: the ability to pursue one's dream; entrepreneurship, and unfortunately -- law suits. This film entertains, educates, and lifts your spirits as you follow two compelling stories and learn about an emerging industry. It is absolutely incredible that in today's economy, the American dream remains alive and well. I am in awe of the young people who dared to open their own business in a town otherwise left to neglect and despair in today's economy. The hope and optimism shown by them is enough in itself to make this clever movie worth your while. Equally awesome is the dedication, passion, and drive on display by the restaurant owner/brewer who faces legal trouble. He has one of the best lines in the movie, but you'll have to watch to hear it. At 71 minutes in length, definitely worth the investment in money and your time -- a nice escape with great footage and some laughs. A must see!
... View MoreBlood, Sweat & Beer is a top-notch documentary that follows the story of entrepreneurs fulfilling the American Dream. From the first minute, the film pulls at your heartstrings and you are invested in the success of the two breweries. As a millennial, the story of The Gentleman Beer Co. is particularly inspiring as it shows how hard work and an idea can revitalize a town. And, you can't help but cheer for the hometown Ocean City Brewery to get a win! The story of both breweries and the struggles they had to overcome is what makes this documentary so relevant. Overall, this documentary is a 10 out of 10. Chip and Alexis are truly talented and have a gift for storytelling. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!
