Who payed the critics
... View MoreThe greatest movie ever made..!
... View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
... View MoreAmazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
... View MoreI went to see this movie being a bit skeptical, since most projects the people from the TV series "friends" are involved in always seems to be quite a failure. But anyway I was looking quite forward to it since David Schwimmer is my favorite actor out of "friends". I was very happy when I saw that Schwimmer's role in this movie is not far from the character he plays in "Friends". Not that he is Ross in this movie, but he's so believable. And he pulls this one of so perfect! The movie is well produced, has intelligent black humor, and the storyline will keep you interested all the way through. It must be one of my top 5 surprisingly good movies watched this year. I just love when you don't have any expectation to a movie, and it then blows you away. This movie can do that.I gave it an 8 since there is a certain point in the movie that feels a bit long, but when I think about it now it's probably just because the rest of the movie is so entertaining and fun.
... View MoreI have come to realize that any film with Simon Pegg is pretty much pure gold. After the first scene of this movie I can assume that this film will be nothing short of a confirmation of my prior hypothesis. The reasoning behind my conclusion is that the first scene is a direct allusion to goodfellas. That memorable opening scene where Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta, and Robert DeNiro open the trunk of the car and see that their gangster friend is still alive, and you know the rest. Anyways, back to the film at hand. The plot of this film follows a couple of call center employees as they attempt to blackmail a pervert priest which ends up going horribly wrong. Then it goes even wronger. Then it goes even wrongerer. The one word that comes to mind which might begin to describe the events which follow is cluster***k. A movie with such perfectly written dark humor is difficult to conclude, however this movie does so with such perfect poetic justice that it seems unreal. This Jean Baptiste Andrea's film brings to mind the works of the Coen brothers with the clever twists, and the sarcastic/cynical commentary on human nature and the question of morality.
... View Morefrom a plus side a good story, not overly predictable nor overly complex - a viable watch after a long day. Comparable to 'Very bad things' or 'Edmond' in its darkly comedic tragedy Big Nothing seems to be split down the middle for me...on one hand it is great as the darkly comic disaster with a fun yet uncertain plot reminding me of lock stock yet it is wrongly cast for this comparison. Imagine a younger cockier skank in the lead female role and something like of Colin Farrel's 'in bruges' character as one of the lead males resulting in an edgier take on big nothing. Not to say the comedic side of Schwimmer/Pegg (who where okay but definitely not great in Run Fatboy Run) don't work well here - they do nicely but it creates a slightly out of place lighter edge to the movie......overall i'm glad i watched it - it was worthy of me writing my first IMDb review.... enjoy
... View MoreI watched The Big Nothing, Run Fat Boy Run and Hot Fuzz this week all with Simon Pegg as leads.Hot Fuzz was horrible and this was just a riot. It's dark...it's gruesome and it's funny - without a whole bunch of needless swearing or nonsense shooting. The cast was good, David Schwimmer was perfect as the wimpy guy. A better role than he ever had in Friends.Simon Pegg lost his accent and is pretty decent in this role. It's a trip that has an odd ending. This was also filmed in Isle Of Man, but I don't see where - as it's all exterior scenes in British Columbia.
