Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

Murphy "Barfi" Johnson (Ranbir Kapoor) is an optimistic, street-wise, charming young man who was born deaf-mute to a Nepali couple in Darjeeling. His mother died when he was a baby and his father raised him alone, while working as a chauffeur. Barfi is known as a troublemaker – he cuts lampposts, plays practical jokes on innocent people, and is chased by Sudhanshu Dutta (Saurabh Shukla), a local police officer. Barfi meets Shruti Ghosh (Ileana D'Cruz), who has just arrived in Darjeeling; she is engaged to Ranjit Sengupta (Jisshu Sengupta), and is due to get married in three months, and Barfi is immediately smitten with Shruti. She also falls in love with Barfi but her mother dissuades her from pursuing him because he could not take care of her with his disabilities and lack of money. Shruti takes her mother's advice, gets married, and moves to Kolkata, breaking all contact with Barfi.

Barfi is a movie about a deaf boy played by Ranbir Kapoor. How he grows, how and why he commits a crime, gets out of it and finally falls in love.Barfi was chosen entry for Oscars in the year 2013 from India. The decision to send Barfi to Oscar was not welcomed by many. It came to notice that people who liked movie also criticized it for the only reason that some scenes were copied from other Hollywood movies. In my opinion this was wrong. As mentioned the decision to send Barfi to Oscars was wrong, but the negativity which came along was too much wrong. I myself totally support the idea of getting inspired and providing audience with something fresh, and by Fresh I mean fresh to particular audience is also fine. I personally enjoyed the movie and highly recommend it.Rating: 9.0/10

Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor acted out the most challenging Bollywood roles this decade. The glamor was toned down, and the scripts were toned up in terms of difficulty and complexity. There were quaint settings in contrast to the settings which these celebrities have graced during their careers. Ileana D'Souza compensated for all the starkness in this movie with a beautiful portrayal of a débutante prone to social forces. Superficial expectations of marriage and the ardent nature of love developed Ileana D'Souza's character into a lonely woman. Satire of executive government in a vibrant Darjeeling proletariat and a prejudiced Calcutta bourgeois set the stage for this romantic comedy.

OKAY,this is enough!!!It's a shitty copy of many foreign films(the notebook and other Hungarian movies).Ask me if there is any scenes of its own!! A BIG SCAR ON Indian CINEMA!!!THEY COPY EVERYTHING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM!! the simple reason why Indian movies are trash is-- NO CREATIVITY. yes, we stick to only one major genre--TYPICAL BOLLYWOOD ROMANCE. guys come on!! get some story of your own!!We produce more annual films than others but still lack the true nature. we have become hopeless here. The only reason why bollywood has got some name of it's own is-Few actors going west!!!STUPID Indian DIRECTORS AND PRODUCERS!!! They make themselves look like DUPLICATES!!! And same goes for the idiots audience who praise them for their stupidity and ask for Oscars NOMINATIONS!!!! go get a life Indian cinema!!
