Asssscat Trailers

On the heels of their enormously popular TV show, the Upright Citizens Brigade (Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh) bring you Asssscat - an unparalleled improv comedy juggernaut. Beginning with a suggestion from the audience, a guest monologist tells a story that kicks off a series of high-octane improvised sketches. From medical marijuana to embarrassing sexual encounters, no topic is off limits to the renegade performers who have helped make Asssscat one of the longest running improv shows in the history of the world.

A lot of fun.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

"Asssscat" is in essence a great night at an improv theatre put into a box and sold for your enjoyment. The game used is one that is extremely well suited both to the full-show format and to the large cast that is on hand for it: funny monologues provide the subject-matter material for loose, tag-team style improv with satisfyingly recurring characters and situations. The comedians represented here and obviously very comfortable with each other, and that leads to an ability for them to perform in a very quick, concentrated style, with scenes and characters conveyed within seconds and comedy delivered in rapid-fire vignettes. The comedians are masters of the apposite line and the fast wipe within the improv format, which can be as impressive as it is funny. The monologue-style interludes are entertaining and make an interesting slowing of pace and change of style. On the whole as very funny program -- something of a freewheeling but connected collaborative comedy fugue on themes of mainly drugs, dating, and gift-giving. These comedians know what they are doing, know each other, and exude funniness; the recording is definitely recommended. I only wish it were longer.
