a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

i like romantic films and i also like Aston Kutcher he is a great entertainer but this is one of his films that had serious potential to be one of the best films ever made the characters were amazing but sadly the script did't do much justice.the plot of this film was going well but in middle something were important is missing what it is will explain it.the story is about oliver and Emily who meet and have fun the girl is funny and full of life but this boy is shy and one day he makes a vow to her that in six years he will be a rich and successful man, will be married to a great lady & have a great life now he gives his mothers number to Emily and tells her to call after 6 or 7 years later.now here is the mess guys see this 6 and seven years story this all went into trash when Emily calls oliver only 3 years after & they continue to meet and have sex too, what was disappointing that Emily changed a lot not only her hair she became a lot mature and oliver is still the same he is not married & never became a rich guy that he vowed to be in the future.the film would have became more interesting if they never crossed paths in gap of 6 years & oliver was changed like he was married & have kids etc & forgot Emily but you know this is Hollywood no tragic stories allowed.i am ranting because the way these characters were going and the actors put a lot of effort into it almost everything got wasted.even with the faulty script & flaws this film is not that bad it has its moments its got comedy, romance but most of all the chemistry between Aston Kutcher & Amanda Peet their performance is all you need to look out this film for.specially Amanda Peet she is so stunning plus a good actress too she reminds me a lot of Yancy Butler.i am not saying i did not enjoyed it yes i did but in the moments not the whole film because their sudden & surprising meets ruined pretty much all of it,the first 35 minutes of this film are epic rest of it is usual stuff.A Lot Like Love 2005 is like a burger with only cheese & no meat inside it my rating is 4/10.

A Lot Like Love is a sweet sentimental happy movie anchored in reality.Nothing is perfect in life and most of the time things don't happen the way you think or hope they will. This piece is a good representation of that when it comes to love and relationships. The scenario is cute and it will string you along from start to finish. There's not too many clichés, and when you see one, it's well done. There's no "lie" rearing its head, it's just real things happening, with real reactions. Both Amanda Peet and Ashton Kutcher play their role very well. You can see their evolution over the years, and the depth of their character, switching position by the end. The soundtrack is smooth and pleasing, the editing and camera work are seamless. If you're romantic, it's a must. If romance is not really your thing, try it anyway, it's a good story.

8 Stars? Really? Hell yes! This highly underrated movie is top of its genre, an example of how it should be done. The plot is fairly standard but deviates just enough to avoid being formulaic. From a few minutes in you can tell the movie is going to run through a series of time lapses, but rather than being a negative point it adds a sense of anticipation. The chemistry between the two leads is electrifying. Ashton is as likable as ever and Amanda Peet is adorable. My preferred taste of movie is along the lines of 'Appoclypse Now' but this had me laughing and emoting all the way.Amanda has the amazing ability to simultaneously look like the most beautiful woman alive and a badly made Jerry Henderson puppet. I think if this film had got half the credit it deserves we would be seeing an awful lot more of her.If you hate chick-flicks but have to sit through one with the Mrs this is more than bearable.

Like my summary suggests, this IS after all an Ashton Kutcher vehicle, a 30-something who plays 20-somethings who act like 10-somethings, specifically, how 40-something Hollywood wannabe players imagine how 15 year olds act. Everyone responsible for this slow-paced and emotionally shallow POS deserves to watch it a second time to get the full import of how awful their product is, how low they sunk to make a buck from the summer teen movie crowd. It's an hour and half of my life I'll never get back. Okay, you get it, I hated it. Bad scripting and masturbatory mugging designed to cater to forever-young 20 somethings are just carried too far. The script and directing are supposed to show us that even Califormia scene and emo twinks suffer from existential angst beneath the tans, the bitchy gangsta rap vocal tones and the endless sex that, not surprising, is somewhat bereft of passion (but so is the rest of this movie). The result, however, is so bad that even the usually pert and animated Amanda Peet comes across as unsympathetic, weird and just plain irritating. That's like making Sophia Loren ugly: theoretically possible, but you've got to work at it. Don't waste your time, even for a freebie TV viewing. Anyone over 14 and not emotionally stunted will be insulted by this film. I gave it a 2 because there's one good scene, with Amanda Peet of course, who for a moment gives a hint of the physical style of acting she is good at (in other films).
