I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Is it conceivable that this group of idiots could be any less qualified to manage a simple construction project?

The most over dramatized show on air!!! Especially that Justin guy, he couldn't be any worse at acting if he tried. I really dislike the old bald guy too!! I have always found the cast to be a weird match. I hardly ever watch the show, but on every episode someone has made a big purchase without consulting anybody else and everyone gets upset and then at the end it all worked out for the best and they are all happy and forgiving UGH!!!!! Please, please give that a rest! However, I have gotten used to how bad the show is now so my tolerance for it has risen. 👍

This is a semi-scripted show, just like all of the other house-flipping shows. The personalities aren't obnoxious, but a couple of them do struggle a lot with sounding natural while addressing the camera. Their dialogue with each other is natural and their disagreements generally don't seem staged (the bad acting would give it away), though some do seem to make decisions they know will provoke a reaction. While the title's focus is on "Zombie" houses which are empty for a long time due to foreclosure or other economic issues, they clearly state in the first episode that they are extending that to include other long-empty, run down, or otherwise scary houses. They play this up with a campy horror-style intro, and various gross, dangerous, and mysterious things found in these houses with some retro horror editing. It makes for a nice turn of humor, and keeps the show from taking itself too seriously. But there's also a lot of construction and design elements, with explanations of both.

I find it so sad that Duke thinks he's a "designer." What a clueless idiot. It's a bad example to others to show/give a platform to uneducated people like this. He knows nothing about architecture, nothing about design history, nothing about design in any way.He may be able to say he likes to decorate, but like so many other people on these shows, he claims to be a designer with no design education what so ever. You may say, well he just has a natural gift, he does not need to know things...keep that in mind if you go to a dentist that didn't go to college to be a dentist, just thinks he's a natural talent at it.
