    Truly Dreadful Film

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Complete SpoilerThe show has the ability to be Arrested Development Meets Apocalypse. Characters who are irredeemable such as a white supremacist becomes a good person. A pregnant nun. A rich grandma with a pet monkey who wants to steal her family's blood. An evil twin who hates germs. Great characters! However, there was a huge flaw with the writing that made the show not worth a second season and I'm glad it ended. This was the same issue with the finale of the Sopranos and How I Met Your Mother. The writers decided their readers were complete morons. It wasn't just the end where the evil twin showed up and replaced the good twin after sitting in a totaled car three miles down bleeding to death then at the last minute he magically appeared and knocked out the good twin. That's certainly a moment when the writers' point their middle fingers at the audience and call them all stupid. It's that they did the same thing with the character Rhonda's plot in every episode. I'd buy Jamie could part water before believing Rhonda would be hunted down by the police and treated the way she was. Her brother Scotty was the head of the crew saving the world and had a seat next to the President of the United States. I'm supposed to believe for a second some marshal has a score to settle by chasing and arresting the Savior of the world's sister while there's a comet headed for the planet? No cop is that dedicated to their job. All B/S. There's no way in any dimension Rhonda would have been chased down and then sentenced to hanging. Not in the 2000s. Then I'm supposed to believe a soldier would shoot Scotty and fight Arnold? Right. Any person with a speck of sense would think this was completely unrealistic. The writers didn't take into consideration their viewers had actual thought processes. One phone call from the President and Rhonda would have been freed from the start. Scotty was part of the team saving the world. No one would tell that person "no" anywhere. He'd have free ice cream for life and whatnot. Like HIMYM and the Sopranos, this show disrespects the audience by assuming they're stupid. The worst part is it's a good show minus this stuff with a lot of redeeming aspects. It was rightfully canceled though.

I really loved this series overall. The acting is excellent, the plot is winding and clever, and much of it is quite funny. I was consistently drawn in, entertained, and curious what would happen next. The ride does, however, become a bit bumpy towards the end. The problems are mainly related in some way to religion, both in an utterly nonsensical conspiracy and in some overt supernatural elements that are hinted at throughout the series but are ramped up far too much in the latter part. Then there's the end, which is both predictable and unsatisfying. Even though this was a miniseries, it's clear that the intention was to have a second season, so they left a mystery unanswered one or two threads loose. This would have been unsatisfying even if a second season were coming, but it's not, which makes it *super* annoying. (Hopefully at some point the developers will give an interview and fill in the blanks.)If not for the ending, I would have given this a 9 rating instead of an 8. But I've seen far more frustrating finales, so I didn't feel the ending entirely ruined the series; it just made it weaker than it should have been.

I love the cast of this show. It has some of the best actors in the business. For example, Megan Mullally is almost unrecognizable in this show and was perfectly cast as a white-trashy prisoner who plays her role with a breathtaking ease. I love how different this role is for her in comparison to other shows I've seen her in. Then there is Jenna Fischer who plays the sweet and innocent role, which, to be quite honest, is something I've grown quite bored of from her as an actress. She's a great actress, don't get me wrong-- I'm just tired of the sweet and innocent roles.Next there is Rob Lowe. Ahhh. what a great character role for him playing the very untypical priest who is a chain smoker. The overall show is pretty good. I love the concept, I love the actors, I love the writing. But there is still something that is sort of off for me as a viewer. I find myself bored watching the show sometimes and that is unusual for me. Perhaps there isn't enough action. But I will still continue to watch it to see where it goes. With a cast like that, I cannot "not" watch it.

You, Me, and the Apocalypse is an amazing show that makes you want more and more and more. From the beginning of the season to the end there are twists and turns that are performed beautifully by an amazing cast. Everyone performs flawlessly in this show and it's quite the story. I loved the first season of this show from beginning to end, by the middle of the season me and my girlfriend were on the edge of our seats every episode. There is a lot of jumping around in the show, but it's surprisingly easy to follow. The show has religious undertones that are really well done, they don't take over the plot, but it's there and it's present throughout the entire show. With two of the characters being a priest and a nun you can pretty much see this coming. Love this show.
