... View MoreThis show is the best show to be put on MTV in a long time. Andrew Jenks has an incredible knack for getting to know very diverse people and peeling back the layers to see what makes them who they are. I don't know how he picks the people he follows, but without exception, they are more than meets the eye. As other's have mentioned, the main drawback of the show is that Jenks doesn't have more time to tell us about his subjects. Still, he does the most with the time he's given. The show is typically lighthearted, yet manages to challenge the assumptions of the viewer. The show stands in stark relief to the materialist, hedonistic crap that characterizes most of the network's content and advertisement. Actually, for that matter, it outclasses much of what the "more respectable networks" put on the air, even the sensationalist junk that populates the channels like History, TLC, and Discovery. Considering that most of the MTV's viewership isn't watching MTV to be enlightened, it's hard to imagine that this show is getting the attention and acclaim it deserves. I hope MTV keeps the World of Jenks shine. I, for one, am tuning in.
... View MoreFirst off, Finally we get a REAL show on MTV. Not just another reality bull crap show like Jersey Shore. I am currently in school right now as a Digital Video Producer. So when I first heard about the show I was hyped to see it. It's about a 24 year old Documentary Film maker. He picks out a specific type of person( Rapper, homeless girl, Famous Poker player, & etc..) and films what it is like to live a Day in the life with that person. Andrew seems like a really down to earth guy. A person you can easily get along with. The concept is really good because he is just such a like able guy.Andrew really tries to dig deep and find out what it is like for these people in their daily struggle with life. I agree with the first user review on here that the show could be a bit longer. Because in some episodes Andrew just does not seem to get a lot of footage with the person to really find out about these people. His time is limited in the show, but It still works for me.I do believe they should make World of Jenks a hour long to give it more of a better effect. That way we could learn more about the people he films. But with the time he has I think he does a good job. There was one episode that really hit me in the heart good.Andrew does his best to try and really make YOU feel what it would be like living in these people's shoes for a day. Overall It's a good idea with some really good footage. I hope MTV will give Andrew the chance to do another Season with a running time of 52 minutes! Good Show Jenks! Overall my rating is 7/10.W o r l d Of J e n k s!! "This is the sound track to my life!!"
... View MoreFirst off, this seems like an interesting concept for a show. The basic premise of the show is that you go inside the life of a particular type of person (e.g. a homeless person, a rapper, a professional fighter, etc.), and you see how they really live their life. The biggest problem with "World of Jenks" seems to be the fact that the show is only 30 minutes long. Because the documentaries are so short, I don't feel as if I'm fully delving into the world of the people that Andrew Jenks is filming. You get a few glimpses into their life, but you don't really learn anything earth-shattering about them. If the show were given a full hour slot, I think Andrew would get to go beyond scratching the surface, which is a shame because Andrew seems to have a very like-able personality. In summary, it's a great concept for a show, but it was meant for a 1 hour slot as opposed to 30 minutes. Maybe MTV could shorten "Jersey Shore" to help "World of Jenks" have the time it needs.
