I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

The story line of Kit Marlowe interested me most. His search for meaning and willingness to try anything just to feel was captivating. His delve into religious and supernatural means to seek it was compelling. Bower was completely seductive. I would like to pluck all of his story and make it into one movie. I don't know if I would have stuck with it if there wasn't that juxtaposition of Will with his faith and Kit with his search for it. Nonetheless, I began to care about all the characters in this bizarre show and I looked forward to seeing it every week. Who would have thunk it? And as a writer, the last line wrung true especially as it was delivered by Marlowe.

What is almost surely to be WILL's only season ended last night (hits aren't relocated to 11pm broadcasts) and I'm sorry if that's all. Gaffes and all, I liked the nerve of the thing and appreciate its raw verve. Laurie Davidson gave good show of WS's sensitivity but the real coups were Bremner's arch-villain, Jamie Bower's louche Marlowe, and the fantastic Olivia de Jonge (she was 18 when making this? Amazing!). Plus whoever the eccentric young actress was playing the bird-song fetishist in episode 8 (the cast-list isn't helpful); the series was studded with vivid young players, appropriate to its subject. Ep.8 is the best- written of the ten scripts-- it ends with two grieving young people resorting to The Lord's Prayer, and when was the last time you saw that in a cable series?

Who cares if historically accurate, it is a good story line and 100 percent worth watching. Mixes modern and old together and I love it. The story is set in 1589 in London, with the Protestant church rallying against the Catholics. You have your good guy, who makes mistakes, the girl or love interest, the villain and all the rest. It's just entertainment, don't take it as fact.

Binged through the 9 episodes available so far on TNT's app and can't wait for the next (one, two, three...?)If I were a HS English teacher, having the students watch this would be the best way to get them interested in Shakespeare (probably have to field complaints from uptight parents about language, nudity, etc. etc.).Just because not everyone is wearing brown or black doesn't mean this isn't historically accurate; maybe London was like a renaissance fair? The backstory on the characters seems to be on target.
