... View MoreIt isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
... View MoreI was hesitant to watch this on Netflix because honestly, a lot of the animé they put on there is rushed, made for quick money, crap. I'm not even sure why I clicked on it. It may be a turn off to you that they seem to show unnecessary clevage from one of the character's. But I assure you, this does not detract from the animé. Every episode is special. Violet goes through a transformation the first time we see her till the end. She's a killing machine. Following orders is all she was created for. But as her Commanding Officer forms feelings for her, she feels something inside too, she just doesn't know what. I don't just like this animé as a passerby. I connected deeper with it than I thought I would. I'm a veteran, and I know the struggles she endures to reclaim her humanity, or what's left of it. There are even moments where I winced at the pain she was going through. Overall, it's a very lovely animé. This is my first review because they finally let us post them in the app (which I always use) and I was looking at V.E. on Netflix with a tinge of sadness that it was over, and I wanted to get the impression it had on me out to a wider audience. Violet's struggles are my struggles, and it's very healing to see her embrace her demons, and, try to understand what's in her heart.
... View MoreOkey, I'll keep this review as brief and too the point as possible. The animation is just stunning. This anime is just gorgeous with a capital G. Voice acting is perfectly chosen. Weather you're watching the sub or the dub it's great. If I had too point out one negative thing it's the fact that some people may find the first two or three episodes relative slow. But please do yourself a favor and keep watching. As soon as episode 3 or 4 the series starts too click. The story is a writers Magnus opus. The characters have convincing motivations, backstories etc. And then I'm not even talking about the events in the episodes themselves. From episode 6 to 13 it's one big cry-fest. The stories are so heartfelt and heartbreaking I had to cry at least a few times every episode. Anyone with their heart in the right spot would cry I think.EPISODE 10 is without a doubt one of the best things you'll have ever seen.Watch this now.
... View MoreThe visual work done on this anime is worth watching every episode. I am sure anything good always gets compared to Studio Ghibli quality... but honestly it is on par with Studio Ghibli... and for a tv show, truly impressive. The English translation is stilted and lacks imagination, they went with literal translation instead of bringing the message across and not worrying about the literals. The English voice acting leaves a lot of room for improvement most of the time. I wish I would have watched it in Japanese with subtitles. Hard to knock if for the poor English script/voice acting but most people will be finding this on Netflix and be watching it in English... so it is what it is.
... View MoreThe plot, the animation, the character design was amazing. (especially since this was from Netflix!?) This anime look like it would of been produced from a studio that made other great new movies like 5 Centimeters a Second or Your Name.(English Titles) Everyone I have recommended this to has enjoyed it.I thought it had a little too much blood for the action that was shown, but I am thankful that studios can make good anime without magic/gore because it's really hard nowadays not to see magic/gore in a anime! YOU CAN MAKE GOOD ANIME WITHOUT MAGIC and this anime is evidence!! Hopefully us anime fans can expect more anime like this, less gore/magic more story/plot/feelings/Amazing Visuals! Definitely going to be on my top 10 anime shows to recommend. It has been a while since a good show like this has been produced.
