Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

I've tried over and over again to watch this show, but every time I do, I feel like someone is slowing trying to pull one of my teeth out. I mean, the people are attractive, so you keep trying to grasp what's about to happen with these wild haired people, including some morbidly obese actress Tyler Perry could have found on the other TLC show "My 600lb life", BUT I digress.... anyway,,it never happens where you're on the edge waiting as they repeat the same lines over and over only to feel robbed of being able to THINK as someone with an IQ over 100!I guess all the women and men drooling over what looks like a Tikbalang (half horse, half human) are those here giving that mind numbing, hillbilly trash all the 6-10 stars , because I was wishing my tooth could be pulled each time I watched it, and especially after that scene with those sisters fighting with their pile of poo of a mama tonight, so I could stop the mental pain I was in each time I gave it all I had. I kept imagining I saw flies around that woman in a Wierd Science kind of way? And poor Healther Locklear, she must have some dirt on Perry because I can't imagine why he cast her at all here, she literally looked baked, as in the baked clay you see on flea market statues you could dress up to look like Locklear, but far from what she once was.Was this series meant for 3rd world societies that might think Green Acres and the Beverly Hillbillies are reality shows, I mean, come on?!Okay, I now feel renewed again, thanks.

First and foremost, I would like to say to the haters: Go take out a piece of paper and a pen and let me see you do better. Furthermore, go audition for some rolls and let me see you act. This show was written from the heart depicting the times and the very struggles most if not the majority of Americans go through. Even though there is struggle, there is a sense of hope and love rising to show, that love always win. The show is well written, directed, and produced by a great legend: Tyler Perry. The acting: these actors, they own their characters and deliver their lines. They are all incredible. My favorites: Brody, Bonnie,Shelby, and of course the doctor and JB!!! Excellent Job!!! There is nothing wrong with the show. I think everyone does a fantastic job and continues to get better and better as the season progress. I'm looking forward to a season 3. And hope Tyler Perry continues with this show. Furthermore, I hope all the actors continue to excel and be a part of this incredible show. Congratulations TLC. Hats of Tyler Perry and all the amazing actors and crew who make this show for our enjoyment. Season 3, come already! My family and I and all my girlfriends, we LOVE the show. !!!!!! God bless you all.

This has to be one of the craziest "soap operas" I've ever seen, with all the bizarre people and things going on. If anyone has ever lived in the "redneck South" and trailer parks, then this is going to hit home on some account or character. Episode one was quite interesting, but the following episodes became more zany and for awhile, I wasn't really watching it much. But starting January, I found I couldn't wait to see what the next episode would bring. There's a bit of everything in this show....sex, drugs, rape, big mean mama, gays being beat up by rednecks, old man with dementia, police much like Mayberry, politician and wife pulling strings to get what they want, families close one minute and fighting the next....the whole can of worms. This series may be a bit much for many viewers, but it IS different, and rather amusing to watch.

The big mistake here is that there was no time spent developing the characters or making us care about them. The attempt at buildup to the big reveal(daddy molested us & got us pregnant)is so poor that we all figured it out right away and now, every blatant hint that is dropped seems like it was put there for the naïve viewer that has never watched a TV drama before. I imagine that season 2 will have us finding out that one of the sisters killed daddy. Probably big sister Bonnie, because that's the most predictable, martyr route. The mother is a hateful beast. I can see the abused wife, there was nothing I could do to stop him, or myself from being jealous of my own daughters and thinking they enticed him (can you say bitter?),storyline coming from a mile away. The Bonnie/Brody romance is played out as forbidden fruit. We're supposed to feel bad for Anna because her sister would do this to her. What? Anna dumped Brody and hasn't looked back in several years. She has no claim on him and no right to be upset. Especially since she was perfectly happy with her life and lover in DC, and not thinking at all about a life with Brody, until it all fell apart. Shelby is a hot, hot mess. We're supposed to feel sorry for her "little girl lost" character that has been driven to addiction by all the bad things that have happened to her. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a single redeeming quality, so I can't work up any sympathy for her. JB is a jerk. I don't care that his daddy doesn't love him (although they've hinted that Dr. Allen isn't his biological father). He deserves whatever he gets. A full beat-down by a couple of women and gay men would be a pleasure to watch. Overall, this show needs a ton of work. Maybe they can fix it in season 2. But, who cares?
