Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.

Watched this New Years Eve with my husband, this music was "our era" and this movie was just soooooo good. Think I appreciate the Temps more so after watching this move. The actor who plays David Ruffin, was one sexy hoot ! Spellbinding...loved the Eddie Kendricks character/actor too, he was such a cutie ! Best thing for me was the earlier performances...the actor who plays Ruffin can move! Whoa. Great great movie!

I must admit - the Tempts were my favorite Motown group. I knew a lot about them. But not nearly as much as this film portrays. I quickly fell into the category of believing that these 5 (or 7 with Richard Street and Dennis Edwards) actors were the real thing. The emotion in this story can be best seen in the woman's eyes at the Eddie Kendricks solo show when he and guest David Ruffin serenade her with "You're My Everything." And Ruffin's audition on New Year's Eve when he first opens his mouth in "Shout" drew revere from the four Tepts who performed the encore.I could write for hours about this film. But if you have any interest in Motown or any music form the 60's or any era, this is absolutely a MUST SEE.And - II met Otis WIlliams recently and I asked him 2 questions: 1) Which voice was hardest to replace (answer - none) and 2) Which original Tempt does he miss the most (answer - Melvin "Blue" Franklin, of course)."And the band played on...." Melvin Franklin

One of the best Biopics I have ever seen. The accuracy and effort to make the main characters look and sound like the real Temps was just outstanding. Interesting story but I doubt the main theme that Otis was the driving force. I believe he was a very strong character but was/ is undoubtedly the weakest of the Temptations, in fact had he ever left the group would not have suffered at all. He is certainly the worst singer and can only be heard on one song ( I can't get next to you ) and his contribution on that song is very weak. David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and Melvin Franklin were the Temptations and had they replaced Otis with Richard Street or Denis Edwards they would have been even better. What makes them such a lasting phenomenon is the music and the fantastic songs, Smokey Robinson and later Norman Whitfield wrote some of the best group songs ever written. Currently only Otis is left but apart from the nostalgia he still doesn't contribute much to what is in effect a tribute act. Having said that I can only emphasise that this is one of the best Biopics ever, Only Ray ( about Ray Charles ) is a better film in my opinion.

I have seen thousands and thousands of movies and own 400 DVD and this is my favorite its the best movie ever.It is simply amazing what these guys went through especially Otis its amazing. Some of the best writing I have seen in a long time and great directing. This movie was so powerful it could make the roughest toughest guy come down in tear such an amazing great movie that deserves 20 Emmy and 50 Oscars this never became to big but I'm trying to get this movie out its so great to come watch this movie and listen to some of the best music ever written the singing is great I don't know if they lip'sync or sung because each one was amazing. I recommend everyone to come and see this movie buy it or rent it.
