An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

Small review, no point in large reviewThe series was briliant. New idea for the time of mystical story of trying to retrieve their father from the jungle down a mysterious river. However strange things happen on the way. Its an extremely brilliant story, excellent characters. I dont understand wht they never made the second series, It doesnt make sense, even stephen king liked the series...MAKE THE SECOND SERIES!!!!!!

I hated lost, but this is 'lostesque' it is just an amazing adventure. Each episode could be an episode in the twilight zone, but they have strung it together with the "Searching for Dr Cole" theme. I loved it, I found myself glued to each episode, there are just no dull parts. I don't know if they will or can hold this together for a second season, but so far it is amazing.Every film of 'magic', 'exorcism', 'paranormal', 'mythology' etc, is in this series - you watch the first episode and wonder if it can keep it up - but in my humble opinion each episode just gets better. I am not easily fooled into watching and being sucked into a series, this one had me captivated. Of course there are some downfalls, like "How do they keep that cell phone, or video camera, charged for months", but who cares, the show is great! Please, Please keep up the great work, don't let this show die the normal death of series 2 mediocrity.

I Want a story that is planned, written from the outset with a start, a middle and an end. Not one that tries to define itself as it goes and not one that leaves itself open for a sequel that promises nothing more but more laboured excuses for a sojourn through the whittled mind of an underpaid writer trying to justify his (or her) existence. The River started OK, I won't go into the professional camera work that occurs throughout on what should be hand-held cameras because that is a petty put down that the show doesn't deserve. However there was professional camera work throughout that detracted from the fact that this was recovered footage. :-) The acting was OK. Although the bird that was Jack Bauer's wife in 24 is equally as annoying in this. I wouldn't want to watch another series of this, but most of all what I really wanted was for this to be a stand alone series that started and finished. Please Fox, ABC or whoever just write a good story that makes sense.

Seriously? what did he have to do with this because the acting is terrible! The plot is really cool and I admit I saw the trailer in my hotel room and thought it was amazing. But I honestly do not know for the life of me how they picked these actors! Seriously, the only one of them that can kind of act isn't even in really there in the first episode! I think that this is one of those scripts that was written for a movie and some producers got their hands on it and thought about a way for shooting a "tv movie" in the form of a series to see if they can make the next "Lost". I also found something interesting. Please go check the information about the statistics on the polling. Its quite interesting reading them as you find out Male / Female and the age bracket of people that are watching this! The highest score on IMDb being the category of girls under the age of 18. I laughed a bit. Saying all this, its quite a giggle and does past the time quite well....
