    Redundant and unnecessary.

I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

Having never read the book, some of my complaints my stem from the source material. For myself, this series has two enormously fatal flaws. The first is that all the premisses the show is based on to lead up to the dystopian "future" are impossible in every way, and completely immersion breaking. Even assuming some religious cult paramilitary organization would be able to take down all three federal branches of government simultaneously, the US military wouldn't just stand idly by and let such a group take control of anything long term. Yet supposedly this story is set in real-life USA (not some alternate universe) and somehow the military is just AWOL, aside from a brief mention of the national guard and the pentagon. Even more absurd is the idea that this group somehow managed to take down the US, and yet inexplicably left Canada untouched. The second is the mind-numbingly slow pace of the show, where nothing really happens, nothing changes, and we get the same repetitive garbage over and over. I can't believe I actually got through the first season and partway through the 2nd before I couldn't take it any more. And those are only the things about the show that are objectively awful. There are many other more subjective things that many viewers will find equally objectionable on a personal basis.

WARNING, SPOILERSSeason 1 was fantastic, great pacing, atmosphere and plot but they shouldn't have gone beyond the book as season 2 was very disappointing.Firstly why was it 13 episodes, there was nowhere near enough content to fill them? And with so many episodes why couldn't they develop some of the key plots and characters better?Serena Joy flipped from sadistic and cruel to caring and thoughtful just to fit the storyline in each episode. For example in one episode she gets her husband to rape Ofred to try and induce Labour in the next episode she knowingly lets Ofred "steal" the baby! The young girl who marries Nick is supposed to be deeply religious and obedient but decides to commit adultery with a security guard just because he makes a nice comment about what she is going to cool for dinner! The bomb attacks were supposed to have killed a lot of handmaids but wouldn't whoever committed them have gone out of their way to avoid handmaid casualties? It was just a plot device to give a reason to send some of the key characters back from the Colonies but wouldn't those Handmaids have been contaminated by the toxic waste and therefore wouldn't have healthy children? And why send them back to the same community where they committed their crimes, surely they'd split them up?!And how many times will Ofred be forgiven for trying to escape whilst others are tortured and killed for the most minor offences??Is there no-one working in Amercian TV who can write a decent plot!?

None of the usual predictable drivel here. It's a mind boggling, intense drama with fantastic actors/actresses.

This show can get slow, so when Hulu uploads weekly instead of all at once it is easy to lose interest. Good show for what it is. I recommend waiting to watch it all at once when it's over with.
