... View MoreDisappointment for a huge fan!
... View MoreIt’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
... View MoreThe film may be flawed, but its message is not.

They are also taken quickly by the contagion. General Mancheck (Andre Braugher) activates the Wildfire Alert. Dr. Jeremy Stone (Benjamin Bratt), Dr. Angela Noyce (Christa Miller), Major Bill Keane MD (Ricky Schroder), Dr. Tsi Chou (Daniel Dae Kim), and Dr. Charlene Barton (Viola Davis) are retrieved to investigate the outbreak. The victims' blood get clotted or they commit outlandish suicides. A man and a baby are the sole survivors. They are brought back to the Wildfire Lab. Reporter Jack Nash (Eric McCormack) gets a tip about the incident and leaves rehab. Project Scoop to collect samples from a wormhole is headed by Mancheck unbeknownst to President Scott who proposes underwater mining which could wipe out an unique environment. This stretches the two hour 1971 movie into a 4-part three hour mini-series. The 1971 movie is already extended. This one adds on a lot of stuff including The Happening. It also suffers from complicated scientific talk just like the original movie. It does have enough flash to keep it energized but it's not an improvement. Overall, it's watchable TV fare that leaves one in an empty Buckyball.
... View MoreI know... some "elevated critics" out there will raise a brow in disgust and disbelief, and spit on those 10 stars I gave the movie. But look - sci-fi movies made in the 50s just are just übercorny. From every point of view. Dialogue, acting, visuals. I tried it a few times. I guess if You are nostalgic, some musicals from the "golden age" might still work, but we are talking sci-fi here. So... probably the novel behind this movie is absolutely awesome. But beside some minor flaws I give the crew for this movie an A+. I saw great care for details. Plot-holes described by some reviews here are not really there, but rather a rush for labeling them as such is present before consulting the better brain half. Plot and acting is great. I watched the two parts in the same bite, and boy, it was a treat! I was smiling wider and wider on the edge of my seat, because I finally found a good sci-fi I had not watched yet. One that keeps clichés to a minimum, is smart enough, and has none of those pesky moments glorifying the American army, or spirit, or way, or folk, or freakin dishwasher on the notes of some WWII triumph march song. I mean... yeah.. it has one.. but it's digestible. And I noticed only two product-placements. And it is not in 3D(=no useless gimmics). And this is as good as it gets these days.
... View MoreThis mini series lost my attention when the self righteous reporter kills a few of our soldiers. No way are you convincing me this ass is some kind of hero of free speech. He is still has to obey the law, and by trespassing on a military base and entering a quarantine area, he violated national security. Some hot shots think they're above the law. All his action would do is cause a panic and inhibit the response time. In the filmmakers intent to be political correct, they come across as pandering. No one wants to be preached to. Medically, since when does a bleed in the brain make people act crazy? In reality it would incapacitate them as the brain is deprived of oxygen.
... View MoreThis a great adaptation from the original movie with the same name from 1971. Thou many people debate if this is a good movie or not, I would say 100% yes. Many question spawn out of the plot, but this is the beauty of the movie, it makes thing unpredictable and puts the question mark right in the middle of the story: how, when, where. The stream of the events are a bit fuzzy, but if you see this movie twice you get the subliminal idea of how everything worked out to the very end. There are many cons to the movie, but considering that the CGI is 90% well made and the characters have at least a human attitude and a brain to care for an intelligent dialog, I would say this could be rated a B+ type of movie. Things could have been improved regarding the scenes in this movie and the chain of events to make a bit more clear, but keep in mind that there is no exact science and by working with trial and error you get a nice enough result. In my opinion if they remake the movie, it will look much better next time, thou repetition can be kind of lame. But if they attempt this, I would highly recommend that they do not add the fat Latino bimbo at the end of the movie, including dumb people in the script just makes the movie look bad. This is a movie worth watching, at least for the nice special effects, if not for the interesting story then!
