Excellent, a Must See
... View MoreI cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
... View MoreWatch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.
... View MoreA film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
... View MoreFor several weeks before the show started, I was really looking forward to seeing the portrayal of these four greats performing together. When it finally did start, I enjoyed being involved in the development of my heroes. But I was extremely disappointed in the fact there was NO million dollar quartet (the original title of the show). In fact, Carl Perkins only played one number, and that was more than halfway into the final episode - the same for Johnny Cash. Jerry Lee didn't get to play a single number (except for a bit of tinkering around on the church piano. And as for the actor playing Sam Phillips - I'm sure the folks didn't (and don't) speak like that in Memphis. He was portrayed as a smarmy character with a voice to match. Having said all that, and despite the wonky timeline, I still enjoyed the show. Hopefully there will be a 'Series 2'
... View Moreit appears that many people think this is a show about Elvis, even thou it's called "Sun Records". Well, surprise: It's about sun records and its founder Sam Philipps. And it's not about Elvis. Nor Johnny Cash. Or Jerry Lee Lewis. It also is not about Michael Jackson or Lady Gaga. It's called Sun Records, remember? If you feel betrayed, I figure it's your own fault - for not reading the series' title. whoops, huh.As such, I find it the perfect way to portray the beginnings of rock'n'roll since sun records played a main part in that. The playing is very decent, the narratology works rather well.Thank you for giving us this mini series.
... View MoreWhat a great idea. I was really interested to learn about that time in music and the birth of Rock n roll. Sadly this is not it. The stories of all the characters are shallow because there are to many story lines going on at the same time. The story of the studio and the artist gets buried in Sam's drunkenness/pill popping/infidelities. Not what I signed up for. Instead of getting a glimpse of that amazing time in history of music,, we get the story of a man that is not really that interesting. PS: the main character is a copy of Mc-Fly from back to the future.
... View MoreThe movie is good. I like it. Probably It would be much better if we speak mainly about Elvis' life not Sam Philips. Elvis' life is a real story of a boy growing up in that windy time in Tennessee. But I am happy about that movie. For me that's how real life should looks. Imagine the world that way. We would live more real and happier life. And I didn't know that sky*e was existed through 50's. I wanna everybody hearing the voice of sky*e. The time is - 4th episode, 21:41m.
