Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

I find it interesting that a kick starter fan based production actually reflects the base of the Star Trek universe others have stated they cut corners, well with a limited budget they managed to attract a cast that would do justice to a full blown production. Of course there will be corners cut many characters could have been fleshed out but all in all a very enjoyable effort in what one might make an analysis Gene Roddenberry would have totally enjoyed this story. Take it for what it is and enjoy. There are to many critics that can not sit down and just derive pleasure from the event nit picking their ego's to that 15 minutes of fame they seem to think they deserve

I wanted to like this, I kind of did but only because I love all things Star Trek. The acting was wooden (so was voyager at the beginning and the original Star Trek certainly was) the plot was a bit rough too but again so was voyager's pilot as was deep space nine so both of those things were viewed as a loving parent, a bit special currently but will get better with time. However the direction was dire. Weird close ups, rubbish effects, strange angles of shot to name a few things wrong. Frankly it felt a bit amateurish which is illogical captain. When you make a film that mocks other film genres this is how it will look. I'm hopeful it will get better and Tim will get into his stride. I want to like this and I'll be very forgiving due to that

this is so poorly put together, the F-X are cheaply done, I have seen better in a fan clip. and the space scene looked like in might have been taken out of the old television show. I have seen better acting in community theater. the acting is was so predictable i could read each action. and to use cuneiform as the language and not be original. and the makeup was so poor I wouldn't want it in a haunted house people would be laughing on there way out. I've seen better actors in a haunted house. and script had absolutely no substance to it. the script would be better served to help heat a house. I would say nice effort but I don't think they really but any effort in to writing this.

Considering the budget, I was surprised that "Renegades" works well as part of the broader Star Trek canvas. It also presents an interesting concept that uses well-known references to the franchise in enjoyable ways. And last, it's good to see some well-known characters taking part. Kudos to the tenacity of everyone involved to make this project happen. That said, much in the story is rushed, unfinished or underdeveloped; I felt like the plot was trying too hard to establish a larger story, to the detriment of the story at hand. That shows potential for a series, but left a lot of lingering questions about how we got to the point that the story embarks from. Given the budget I'm not surprised that the dialog and character interaction is awkward, and I suspect a bigger budget with more time to develop characters and rewrite dialog would have made this feel more like a "real" Star Trek episode. The graphics and effects were quite good given the budget. Many scenes however were exaggerated, probably the worst being the battle of Singh and the alien big bad. This is as much a problem with the genre, as I see ridiculous battles that inexplicably play out in the protagonist's favor in too many shows. I don't see that as an excuse, and I hope more thought will be put into cause and effect if the series continue, which I hope it does.
