it is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.

One of those movie experiences that is so good it makes you realize you've been grading everything else on a curve.

I watched this show as I was a teenager and must say that if season 1 had a great potential, interesting characters, a sense of humor and great script, for some reason, I never got hooked. Season 2 took a direction that I didn´t like, with more science fiction and less psychology. I saw a few scenes of season 3 out of curiosity as I wanted to know if I should regret not having followed, and never regretted it. It is possible that this show would have deserved better as fans called for season 3.

I love this show, to someone that loves cliches and forbidden love -- this show has all of it. All the drama and the teenagers problems mixed with alien stuff and how they managed to keep a secret and discover things about themselves for being an alien.. seriously, I loved it. So excited for the reboot!!

Liz Parker (Shiri Appleby) and Maria DeLuca (Majandra Delfino) are teen best friends working as waitresses in a Roswell diner. Alex Whitman (Colin Hanks) is their geeky best friend. Liz dated Sheriff Jim Valenti (William Sadler)'s son Kyle (Nick Wechsler). A shooting leaves Liz mortally wounded. Max Evans (Jason Behr) saves her life with his touch. She discovers that he's an alien. He, his sister Isabel Evans (Katherine Heigl) and best friend Michael Guerin (Brendan Fehr) are all space aliens. They love Tabasco sauce and have special powers. The last few episodes of the first season sees the arrival of new student Tess Harding (Emilie de Ravin). The pilot is basically Twilight with aliens. A mysterious brooding boy miraculously rescues a girl. They find a deep unbreakable connection. It is teen girl catnip and it's such a great start. Maria is hilarious in the secondary relationship with Michael. Then the struggle begins. There is always a temptation to add more and more sci-fi conspiracy exposition to everything. It doesn't feel well thought out. The FBI stuff is already pushing to the limits but they had to pile on Native stuff. The conspiracy never stops. By the end of the first year, the show is running into problems of being too convoluted. It's not insurmountable but the second season doubles down on it. It becomes mostly about sci-fi mystery thriller. It piles on time travel, interstellar politics, superpowers, alien hunters and spaceship with crystals. The second season ends on life support. The third year is really just a throwaway season and not worth watching after losing a couple of the characters.

I am watching this for the first time in 2011/2012. When I initially started watching, I saw till about the 10th episode of the first season, got really bored and stopped. Because I am now comparing it with the TV shows of this age like Fringe and Dexter and this show seemed so amateurish in contrast. The acting was lacking and the alien premise was just that, a premise, while the show was a very slow, silly, and badly directed teen romantic drama. But then I started seeing the rest, and boy, was I surprised. After the initial hiccup, the show really picks up. The acting of everyone in the cast got really better and I really started enjoying it, and I have just now finished seeing it. :-).........The kids/teenagers in this show, all different in their own ways, reminds us of us and our friends, and once the alien aspect of the show starts off, the show gets really exciting.Jason Behr, the kid who plays Max Evans, the male lead, he was just brilliant. Having to mix his greater than life responsibilities (hope you guys read the official storyline), while being just a teenager along with all the alien complications and also having to manage the relationship with the human girl (Shiri Appleby) who he is in love with.I guess this was Katherine Heigle's maiden TV show. She looks exactly like how she looked in Grey's Anatomy, she doesn't seem any younger(in 1998!).She along with Brenden Fehr are the other 2 aliens. The other kids are their friends/love interests and they are one motley bunch. :-)..................The shows keeps going around the story of all the teenagers, and so we never get bored. Finally, the most beautiful thing about this show is that 'it has a HEART'. Its delicate and sweet. :-)................Why aren't they making shows like this anymore........ I was so disappointed to see it end, it was just 3 seasons, they could have so easily done at least 6, the kids were all so young, they had not even reached college................ So many good shows, like Firefly and Alias all had a premature end, so sad..............Go enjoy Roswell. :-)................
