It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

I watched the first four seasons, which started out being quite funny -- in the vein of Super Troopers: The writing was tight, the characters were likable, and seemed to hint at a layer of depth beneath the hilarity. That works well in a two-hour movie, but if characters aren't allowed to grow at all within a five-season TV show, the silliness can get old really fast. After a while, things started to get way too predictable, relying much too much on cheap gags and wacky twists to keep viewer interest than on actual plot/character development. The first episode of season 5 starts out with Dangle trying to "jump a shark." I stopped watching after that.

Boo Reno 911 and Yeah Super Troopers. It's a shame that that the Broken Lizard troupe is not compensated for their great success in the original parody of law enforcement! Maybe they weren't the original (possibly Blues Brothers characters or Smokey Bandit officers), but who couldn't argue that Reno 911 is a blatant rip off!I hope that viewers that honor hard work and original thought stay away from this bland commercial rip off. Would you buy something from someone that was stolen from you?Broken Lizard is getting their due and stick to their creative an unique ideas!

Members from the original MTV comedy show The State that went on to star in the very forgettable series on Comedy Central called Viva Variety return to once again try to make the audience laugh with Reno 911. At times, the series in funny as it manages to hold itself up with one line jokes and rude and at sometime crude humor with crap and fart jokes. Still, when there is nothing else better to watch, Comedy Central always comes through with series like Reno 911 to make you smile. I hope for the series to get better as oppose to it getting worse and disappearing without any hopes of coming back or going to DVD. Most of the cast are funny stand up or stage comedians. While the script falls short on many occasions, the cast remains strong.

As much as I gripe about how rotten entertainment is, and my dislike of actors, it must be hard to know when filming footage to know if what you have is actually funny. Given the huge range of tones to comedy, how did they find actors who all knew how to do deadpan so well. The no-name ensemble are all amazing. They're ALL on the same page. No one is ruining things with cornball or mass-market line deliveries. Reno 911 could easily have been as stupid as most of TVs output. Instead it's a damned funny put-on. I was so grateful to find this series the week of the over-the-top, week-long, non-stop beatification of Ronnie Reagan. well-done!
