Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

No direction. this JOSH is a honking goose with no comb. his affinity is to be non-committal on experience. all affect is flat and drab. there is no joy to this BOYZ life. he has people who orbit within his eyesight but there is no connection. he loves a dog but will not fill up the water bowl. JOSH is a piece of whiteboard and we just paint our experiences on to his surface. there is no there, there. putty boy

Was put on to this show by a friend, and just loved it. From the beginning of the first episode you get a sense of the style of humor and Josh and his friends will have you laughing. But the plot lines are really serious matters told in a funny way. Just dive in and enjoy it, I can't say enough good things about it. While it has a gay lead character, I wouldn't call this a "Gay" show - I think anyone would love it. Seasons 1-3 are available on Canadian Netflix and this show is perfect to binge watch. Love the different love interests for Josh, shows such a great dynamic of different relationships. But the most important relationship of the show will always be between Josh and Tom. And the last thing I'll mention is the food - each episode is titled after something they cook or eat in that episode. Brilliant!

I had no expectations of this show whatsoever and pretty much watched it randomly.. I was pleasantly surprised. I've scored it an 8 based on the 2nd and 3rd season of the show, though I would rate the first season lower, probably a 6, as it takes a while to understand, and like the characters. Josh, the main character is a recently out gay guy living with his best friend and various others over time. Each one of the main characters is quite complex, yet surprisingly relatable. While on the surface the show is very whimsical and comical, they have tackled some really difficult issues, such as depression and suicide in an incredible manner - the later episodes are particularly moving. I think the jokes only gain in strength as it goes along too, while at first I found it a little stilted, many of the episodes have made me laugh out loud. There are sex scenes, nothing too intimate shown but obviously if you're not cool with gay romance - this is not for you.Overall, would recommend - could see myself watching this again.

Honestly, I was ecstatic to watch this show, as there were plenty of good reviews about it everywhere I looked. So I watched up through the 2nd Season and progressively could NOT STAND the main character. Over and over and over again, he isn't shown as socially awkward, but socially unaware. I guess this may be for comedic effect, but to me, it was infuriatingly annoying.I guess the meta humor is that he plays an a-hole of a character and you're supposed to find that funny. It's not even situational humor supplemented with good writing. The characters are supposed to be believable as human beings, and most of the time, they aren't multi-faceted people you grow to love. They just come across as static characters whom never really learn from anything. They just remain the same people in every episode, and you feel dragged along, rather than like you're a cheerleader for even at least one character. The three main character roommates are somehow good friends, despite the fact that they regularly treat each other like trash and show no loyalty to each other. It's like being on a reality TV show set, except no one is getting enjoyment out of it. I don't know what sort of edge they are going for.Is it supposed to be: Aussie Hipsters Are Complete Jerks to Each Other? Self-Absorbed Young Adults Learn Absolutely Nothing? The characters are supposed to have lives outside of the apartment, but we don't have much depth to it. So yes, it is a unique view into the depravity of modern young adulthood. It makes all of us look like we're not only clueless, but like we don't care at all about what horrible people we are. Maybe it's done to be satire, but it comes across more like a series that requires enough fortitude to overcome growing hatred for the characters on screen to follow to the next episode. It's not going to make or break your life to see this show, but it surely will be a lot less frustrating if you just skipped it all together.
