I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Best movie ever!

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

While the series itself is well done, with excellent filming and occasionally some new facts revealed, the biggest drawback for me is the choice of narrator. My husband and I both find Steve's voice completely wrong as a wildlife narrator, at least for adults. We've tried to figure out whether it's because he over-emphasizes virtually every word, or because his voice has quite a high pitch compared to other narrators, or whether his delivery is more suited to Blue Peter presenters. Whatever it is, I find myself switching off after the first minute and have to apply extra concentration to absorb any of the interesting information while trying to filter out its delivery. Generally I fail. Which is a shame, because as I said the series itself is essentially well done.

This was a refreshing change from the lengthy, event-based nature documentaries which are the norm nowadays (and which, by the way, I'm a huge fan of!).The episodes focus on one region, such as the Scottish Highlands, Galapagos or Australia's Red Centre, and give a whistle-stop tour of its inhabitants and the inter-relationships between them.Sure, there were times when I wished they didn't skim across certain species or scenes quite so quickly, but this was a small price to pay for a wonderfully punchy, upbeat look at nature accompanied by the BBC's usual excellent camera-work.Steve Backshall's narration and a great soundtrack fit this approach perfectly. In just 30 minutes you get quite a good sense of what makes each environment tick.

I really love the idea of building the fascinating, thrilling story on top of the picturesque shots, intimate images of nature's creatures.Each episode of the series focuses on different ecosystem that you may think you know well after all the coverage. However, the story is usually nothing you might have heard about. It cherry picks some of the most fascinating feats in its part of the world, often intricate dependencies between species and nature around, building in you an understanding. Understanding on how they are vital to the entire ecosystem, how all this is kept together, and often how easily it can fall apart and perish.These stories bring much more understanding into the nature than any other series I have seen before.All this with dynamic shots, colourful hypnotising images, footage of fabulous creatures in all the seasons.
