What makes it different from others?
... View MoreDreadfully Boring
... View MoreI wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
... View MoreAll of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
... View More/refers to Season 1/Many people are interested in how/what the criminals think before/during the commit a severe crime, but most of them are not very keen on listening to detailed descriptions and seeing photos from the crime scenes... Mindhunter emanates from them, in an meaty and intense package, thus it is often oppressive to follow. To fulfill their tasks and obtain information, the FBI agents have to act friendly, without judgment, often pretend and provoke, making sometimes forget that the men they interview have committed multiple awful crimes. The scenery, era and characters have well captured, and all leading performances are good, but often vicious performances are more versatile and catchier (particularly Cameron Britton as Ed Kemper). But as the series in question is based on the true crime book, it is hard to believe that too much sensation has been added; at least it seems that the early days of criminal psychology and criminal profiling at the FBI were just like that as depicted in the series.Well done, I am looking forward to Season 2 - to be expected within a year or so.
... View MoreI don't review much but this is worth the time.Much like HBO's 1st season of True Detective... Mindhunter has found a completely new way to get your attention when it comes to this genre. A refreshing and invigorating take on an old can't-get-enough genre for people like myself. This is completely unique. Why someone didn't think of doing a story around the formation of the Behavioral Science Division of the FBI is beyond me.The casting is on point. The dialogue is engaging. The story unfolds like a book. The pacing is just right. The production is well done. The camera work, direction, cinematography, lighting, music, props, costume, etc... are all as clearly well thought out as the crimes they investigate and discuss are.In the first season of particular note is the actor Cameron Britton. Not to spoil anything but his performance as Edmund Kemper is simply outstanding. You'll know who I'm talking about without knowing once he's introduced. If you enjoy detective novels, murder-mysteries, or serial-killer hunting stories... this is for you.I can't wait for the second season... but I was sold after the first episode.
... View MoreI really enjoyed the first season (10 episodes) of this show. It was a bit slower than I thought but it was still very captivating. Acting was great from everyone. I had just finished listening to a podcast about Jerry Brudos so it was interesting to see him pop up in this show. The only thing I didn't like was how the season ended. It wasn't so much about the content as it was the pacing. It felt like just another episode like I am missing one or something. It wasn't a cliffhanger and it didn't finish any of the story arcs it just kind of ends. I think maybe I was expecting a big police shoot out or a kidnapping or the reveal of a a new killer, so it could just be the frame of mind I was in while watching. This does not take away from how good the show is, just a point that kind of stuck with me when it was over. Very much looking forward to Season 2!
... View MoreGenuinely confused as to why this series has acquired good ratings? It is insufferably boring from the outset .The problem is there is no captivating plot . It does not develop any sense of urgency/ thrill/ dread etc,no qualities that would draw you in and sustain interest . The characters simply drone on and on and on about banal psychological concepts in a multitude of obscure lecture halls. Hey I wasnt looking for a psychology tutorial , cause this is what this feels like . Fell asleep about 3 times while trying to plough through the first episode and vowed no more for me . If you're looking to be thrilled forget it ! This is akin to taking a sleeping pill , trust me !
