There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

I'm sorry but how gullible does this show think we are, they pan for gold and use an eye piece to scan to try and find something from the POWDER!! and then low and behold they show us a pan full of decent sized Nuggets straight out of Gold Rush, not a lot of credibility here is there, plus you get tired of the continually stated dangers of the place, and our lot here are so so tired of Americo ranting on about all of this for his family, and how it is going to set them all up, quite frankly he is like an over excited pre school child. On the plus side the scenery is fantastic, realistically how many of us would ever get to go there, and as with all Discovery Shows it is very well crafted and put together, a shame about a couple of the Actors. This is a scripted fiction show backed up by the Rubies comment above, and when you pan crushed dust you cannot pull out decent sized Gold Nuggets!! Still worth watching as are all of the Discovery Shows, my favorite Channel. Cheers. Alan NZ.

I first want to point out that this show is average, whether this is due to incompetent miners or the editors making them look that way is unclear. However this detracts from the show and spoiled what was a promising start in season 1.That being said, many of the reviewers for this show have a lack of understanding about how mining is done/how dysfunctional small businesses often are. Having been in several small businesses and being a rock hound. (amateur miner)For example I can say that many of the dangers faced on the show were very real, the problem is that it is hard to show the viewers the danger. As for Haddix's review claim about the red zone loss being faked... It sad to see that people don't do basic research before making claims. A quick Google search turns up the law mentioned in the show. Greenland's "Mineral Resource Act" which was amended in 2014, in particular section 32 which covers the need for natives to have priority in mining."http://www.govmin.gl/" For Haddix I recommend you keep in mind that the bureau of minerals job is to lure in foreign business and these government agencies are known to say whatever it takes to get you to set up shop. Assuming you even called them.

I had started watching this series and was very interested in the show initially. There was some great information about Greenland, and prospecting, and the cast had done a reasonably good job in presentation. After watching into the second and third season, I am, to be honest, disappointed with the progress the show has made. The audience is treated like they have no intelligence and the extra "drama" and overdone emphasis on the "danger" that exists, well, we do not need it hammered into our heads. This has proved in itself to be a very scripted show. Nothing new is brought forward on the show, even in the interaction among the team, or in the actual expedition. It now is just fake and quite frankly an insult to watch as an audience member. I would have more respect for the cast and crew, and producers of the show, if they discussed more of the techniques, people's backgrounds, what do they actually do, take some time to get to know each of the individuals, maybe we could relate somehow to these people? (or are they just actors for hire? then say so). Maybe they could go over the actual map as to who has claims where? are they companies? countries? Which countries are actually there and for what target? It's hard to believe after 8-10 months of planning that there was not enough fuel to run the dredger. No one went though the check list? Difficult for the viewers to believe that mistake. The temper-tantrums amid the group is embarrassing to watch. How are we suppose to take this show seriously with these childish outbursts? Americo, and John are the worst there. These boys are really not qualified, assuming the show is honest about what they do for a living, to be on this type of expedition. The helicopter dropped off the first group and not one person stopped to look for the massive boxes for their camp before the helicopter took off leaving them stranded. Another slap in the face to the audience. Please, do not make another season of this. I implore you. It is really poorly done, poorly scripted, and quite honestly, embarrassing to admit I've watched it this far, but it's like watching a car accident when you have no control, and all you can do is hope for a descent outcome at the end. I have never written a review before, but I could not hold it in anymore and decided to express my opinion. You, the producers, have the tools to do a great job, but you dropped the ball on the one in a big way. Sorry guys.

i contacted the greenland bureau of minerals and petroleum. i inquired about any changes in the last 3 years with regards to changing of the availability/restriction of land available for mining. there have been 0 (zero) such changes. so, the red zone story line of losing rights to their $13.5 mil ruby jackpot has no basis in fact. so what can we conclude from this?most likely: it never existed in the first place! it was a fictitious story line created to create viewer interest. obviously, it had to be sidelined going into the next season. if they hadn't, the show folks would have been up a creek with out a paddle. without killing the story line, they would have had to produce millions in rubies from a find that never existed. less likely: they actually found the red zone and it was as valuable as they said. if they had gone ahead and followed up next season, viewer interest would have decreased. the lure for the viewer is constant struggling characters with small occasional rewards. rich folks aren't as interesting. who knows, animal planet may be mining it themselves!the skeptic guy
