Why so much hype?
... View MoreAlthough it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
... View MoreIt’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
... View MoreThis is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
... View MoreMy 7yr old was tasked with writing a letter to someone famous. In short, he wrote his letter to "How It's Made". Is there an address that we can send his letter to? This is a requirement for a group that he is involved in. They have to review their letter with the group and mail. Also, any return would be awesome and make his day. This is his favorite show and has been since he was 4 years old!Grandpa records the show and he is able to catch up on all the shows. Im certain that he has watched all of them to date. He always brings up what he has learned and has applied what he has learned in his "creations".
... View MoreThis could have been such a good show, but is executed so poorly it is instead the electronic equivalent of Sominex. With a droning narration and no background info or real insight into the subjects covered, it is a total waste of an opportunity to truly bring these subjects to life on TV.Sure, it does have some interesting subjects, but "How It's Made" shows them in such a bland and boring way that it's a chore to watch an entire episode. This show is such a waste. It could be sooooo much better by showing fewer subjects in more detail and without the droning voice-over.A little depth would go a long way.
... View MoreFor the most part, it's an OK show. I enjoy watching it when the topic is something I'd be interested in. However, my biggest peeve against the show is that most of its episodes can be narrated in two sentences: "A worker puts the raw material into the mould. The machine takes over to complete the process." This is not a show about how things are made. It's a show about how machines mass-produce items with no craft or art involved in the process. I would like to see how something is actually made. For example, I would like to see how a frame is constructed and a membrane of skin or wood strips is lain over it to produce a kayak. I don't want to see "a high-powered press forces the molten plastic pellets into the mould. When it cools, a worker sprays fibreglass onto it and paints it." Yes, many things are mass-produced, but not everything.
... View MoreThis show is extremely well done. The range of products showcased is broad and interesting, and the amount of detail presented for each segment strikes the right balance between thoroughness and conciseness -- particularly given the short attention span of today's TV audience. The finished product is slick and technically excellent, which is particularly remarkable given just how few people put this show together (take a moment to watch the end credits sometime -- you'll be surprised!) I was unimpressed by the work of the male narrator they used in some early episodes, but apart from that I've found little to fault and have been a devoted watcher pretty much since day one. Unreservedly suitable and entertaining for all ages, and superb for family viewing.
