Simply A Masterpiece

One of my all time favorites.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

A small band of students escape the post-zombiefication of their school to discover their families fates while battling some unsavoury survivors and zombie hordes.The teen focus for the most part works, although it plays a little awkward for viewers given the abundance of up-skirt and cleavage shots. Still it's an interesting perspective. Some of the scenes granted are childish and overly comedic but these are few and those familiar with the anime style wont bat an eyelid. The interplay between the teenagers and adult protagonists are handled well and the highschoolers especially Psycho and Takashi come across older than they are.There's cursing, violence, action and gore aplenty, the slow moving zombies are perfectly realised, gruesome and scary which gives the show the required edginess to hold its own. High School of the Dead is designed and drawn skilfully with the sound design and soundtrack as equally pleasing.Yes, it suffers from the all zombie genres clichés and stereotypes but it's fulfilling, exciting and fun.

This was a pretty good horror anime based off an excellent manga and how they did the zombie formula was actually very, very good.The story centers around a group of high school students and the people they come in contact with as they survive against an outbreak of undead doing what they can to survive.I liked all of the characters quite interesting including the main characters Takashi Komuro, Saeko Busujima, Rei Miyamoto, Kohta Hirano, Saya Takagi and Shizuka Marikawa. Their interactions even include some moments of humor.The fan-service I found was actually a pretty good touch combined with the animation (or in case of the manga the artwork) and well handled.While this left out stuff from the manga this is a good anime.

Wow, this was a fun series. This is why I like comics such as Blackest Night and movies such as Shaun of the Dead(I know it's a spoof,but still)they leave you on the edge of your seat, but your having a fun time. The characters are well developed. My favorite characters have to be Takashi, Rei, and Kohta. My least favorite characters has to be Saya and Shizuka. Saya seems like a spoiled brat, but over time she developeds and I start to like her a little more, but Shizuka comes off as the stereotypical blonde who is dumb and is just their for hert looks. (I don't know how she became a nurse in the first place) Some complaints I have with the series is some things that we never get to know. Like will they get to see their parents alive, did Saya's parents make it out alive, what caused this zombie outbreak, etc. And don't get me started on the fanservice. Dear God, sometimes the fanservice just got in the way of the story. Like if something bad happen, the mood would be ruined by pointless. Really, you have a good story, why use fanservice? From some sources I heard that the artists draws hentai, so I shouldn't be surprised. Overall this would've been great, if only it had more episodes and NOT A lot OF FANSERVICE!! As I said in my review on Ikki Tosen I don't mind fanservice as long as its not in your face and doesn't get in the way of the story.

I've noticed a lot of reviews mention bouncing boobs, but please note that they're never actually shown nude. That's problem 1.When this series opened, it showed some promise with some unique action art. But it quickly devolved, as it was clear that they spent 0 budget on writers. The plot was awful, had a ton of holes, and the dialogue was typical dumb teen male fantasy garbage.Back to the boobs and butt shots...So I don't mind seeing cute chicks naked, but to focus episodes or story lines on boobs or butts is extremely juvenile. If it has something to do with the rest of the story, sure, go for it. But if it's made just as an opportunity to show more boobs, then it detracts from the story. If I wanted to see boobs, I could just watch porn or hentai. But if I'm watching real anime, I want more. Either a good plot, or interesting characters, or a unique story, or some dynamic action. HOTD started off well with one of these (action) but then the later episodes started skimping on action and replaced it with teen male fantasy boob stories.
