Highly Overrated But Still Good

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

Many parts of this show i clearly scripted. Like everything with Todd.Dustin's behavior was really bad, and i hope it is scripted. Espesially against the young kid... and that didnt even look scripted.The end of the series looked very scripted. And it was also i big disapointment.I wish this kind a shows had better leadership, and less drama. It would also be better if i got at least the feeling of it beeing geniune (autentic).

Typical Gold Rush fare, but on a minute scale! Let me put it this way, these guys make the Kellys look like Einsteins. After what could be months(you can't really tell) they only have 2 oz of gold? There's a 73 year old that nearly dies EVERYTIME he dives.There's his prick son, who despite ALLEGEDLY owing Todd Hoffman $50,000, likes to basically say "F him" while holding a pistol. There's an ex Military "expert" diver whose third choice to dive? My feeling is this was all shot in couple of weeks, not months. Why? Unless everybody is suffering from Fetal Alcohol syndrome, they'd have quit after just a few weeks of not finding more than what cub scouts could have panning. They keep showing you the whole take and it doesn't look like it's even grown since the first time? Typical, all of a sudden, it looks like they'll(in the finale) miraculously find JUUUUUSSST ENOUGH gold to make them want to try another season.

This show could be an 8, 9 easily, just on its own merit, but the whiney, petulant, pouting, baby Dustin is a terrible distraction.I know that Todd and Parker, and lately even Tony Beets have participated in unnecessary scripted soap opera nonsense in the "Gold Rush" series, but it's too bad they introduced it here, too.If Dustin is behaving so badly - rude and so incredibly disrespectful to his father, moping around with a defeatist, impatient attitude *like a child*... if it's not done his way he does everything he can to make someone else's idea fail...if he's behaving like this because the show's producers asked him to, just to get a bit of drama in the show, shame on him! That makes it just as bad as if it is *not* scripted! What a goof!I'll give it a charitable 5, because the other members of the crew, including dad, are so interesting to watch and listen to.Note to the producers - if you want drama, put Dustin to work for Parker, and quit ruining this show!

I have watched this show twice now and am thoroughly disgusted at Dustin's behaviour. The way he speaks to people and treats people is not acceptable. Especially his father. I realize that this show, like all the other reality shows, are scripted and if this is the type of behaviour that sells a show then it is wrong. If Dustin needs to be portrayed this way then he needs some help. Who would want to be portrayed as an egotistical abusive person for money. Dustin, if you think that makes you a hero, I've got news for you. I had so hoped the son of your father's girlfriend would have smashed you in the mouth, but to his credit he didn't. You sooo deserved it! Yes, richlpz, I have never written a review either, but this show is not acceptable. Glad I am not the only one that thinks it is deplorable behaviour.
