There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I have watched Gantz: O. Very rapid, quite creative. But there were no characters apart two. There was no sex, apart soft breasts bouncing around in tight uniforms. And almost no back story. So I thought, more like hoped, to get at least some back story in the TV series. While there is sick sex like bestiality restating that normal has an entirely different meaning in the misogynistic Japanese society, there are no characters at all. Only the author miming deep thought. In fact low quality platitudes from a frustrated authoritarian society. There is the same pointless action. The backstory is almost none. Yet because of the ease of drawing almost identical manga characters the author is somehow compelled to keep generating new ones.Only advantage over the usual manga is the investment in animation: the static drawings that fill more than half of the usual Japanese show are kept to a minimum.Contact me with Questions, Comments or Suggestions ryitfork @ bitmail.ch

This anime has everything you can hate an anime for... Usually Japanese cartoons are great because the medium gives the opportunity for artists to express themselves, their ideas even if they haven't billions of dollars for it. They can communicate thoughts through moving images, but in a price of a Hollywood car chase with blow ending. They can draw thing for a relatively tiny amount of money and they let the viewers imagination finish the job. The problem with Gantz is here the vision is missing. The makers had one idea and they tried to blow it up to a series. The content is almost none existent. They could have put the 26 episodes in max. 8. Every episode start with a recap, there are a lot of flashbacks just to show the same things again and again. You have to (HAVE TO) watch the OP every time and you hate ED every time it starts. Usually that isn't a problem at other occasions: by hearing them many-many times you get to like the song, but with Gantz it just won't work: especially the ED is annoying as f.ck. There are a lot of plot holes, inconsistencies - you get facepalms in almost every episode (the positive reviewers just missed this for some reason). There is a lot of fan service, violence, gratuitous nudity (the problem is not nudity, but gratuity - just to show some tits without serving the plot or anything). You feel like every character is a retard. You never develop any emotional bond to them, because they are just so unearthly stupid. They chit-chat or give a sermon when they are shot at, or in danger of imminent death. Sometimes (you think gloating) it's like they better be dead, it is easier for the rest of the world. The animation is subpar, that would be a minor annoyance if the plot would be OK. But it's not.

I don't really know why did I start watching this... But it is worth my time. I want to write this just to answer to those who hated the show due to violence, nudity and weird stuff that did happen in the anime, and say that only perverts and anime fans will like it.In my whole life this is the second anime that I see. Never liked the genre, but a friend of mine made me watch Death Note, and I enjoyed a lot. So on I accidentally found Gantz and started watching it, and the story absorbed me until the end. It is quite weird because during the show, you don't really feel like you are part of the story, nor you want to be on it. You just see it from outside, and judge the situation from this point. Even Kei's pervert thoughts that look so pathetic, times goes on and you understand that you had this stupid toughts too. Yes the story is kinda slow, but still it is enjoyable. Why does it have so much gore and nudity? I guess to restrict the ages. I mean this story is not for kids, even if it did not have that gore scenes and nudity, this story is for mature people. The message given in the anime, is definitely not for kids.Don't listen to those who say that this is just for anime fan-boys. If you enjoy scy-fi whit some intellectual label such as The Matrix Trilogy, and similar stuff, you'll like this. It will is not nice to watch all this blood and violence, but world is kinda like that...

Average rating 7-8? Just proves most anime watchers are just closet perverts who are obsessed with Japanese culture.I enjoyed the first and last episode, but everything in between was bland and actually pretty terrible.Throughout the entire anime, I was wondering, "WHY DON'T THEY JUST SHOOT THE DAMN ALIENS?" They are teleported to some surreal purgatory like place and see people close to them dying left and right in horrible ways (getting torn apart, mauled, etc.), yet they sit there just to get killed time and time again. It seems that the creator is an egotistical pervert who thinks society is corrupt and tries to make a point that people will go above and beyond themselves to save people they don't even know. He/she completely ignores the fact that natural human instinct is for survival. Saint-like people do in fact exist in this world, but you would never see so many in such a small group of people. Perhaps the creator says that is how he would act... please. I will say it again, the creator is a self righteous/egotistical pervert who created this anime to indulge his own alien like fantasies.Sorry, but this anime is terribly overrated and a waste of time. If you are some pervert who enjoys hentai, gore, and the like then please watch this and give it another 7-8 rating. However, if you actually enjoy a story that was well thought out (meaning LESS PLOT FAILURES and actually acknowledging human nature) then just skip it. The only reason I give it a 3 rating is because the artistry was pretty good.
