This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

This show is extremely childish. It lacks character depth, plot, logical occurrence of events and a logical character decisions. Top it all with pretty girls with big boobs and perverted men. The animation isn't very pretty and every emotion is exaggerated (yes, even for anime). It's like watching a madhouse. I got to episode five then gave up.

Originally, I was going to give this show a 3 out of 10, but given the current score, I might as well drop it a little. When I started watching it, I kind of enjoyed it...until it became very clear from continuing on what this show was going to be. This show became nothing more than shallow, pandering drivel that only knows how to throw boobs and butts in your face...oh and the power of friendship bullsh*t just to add to the very things I hate about anime.Characters are incredibly one-dimensional and this show has WAY too many characters to develop any of them for sh*t. When the main leads do nothing but try to humor us with weak gags and shout the most generic lines ever in shonen anime, it becomes pretty much impossible to care/relate/sympathize with them.Story is weak and often repetitive and each arc always ends the same with the typical Nakama power because the writer doesn't know how to write a conclusion to save his life. It didn't work for Sailor Moon, so how could it possibly work in this show? Another gripe I have against this anime is the absence of any real threat or stakes, as characters will often be perfectly fine after the stupid Nakama power and nothing is ever really lost. Erza being brought back after death and Lisanna being returned to her own dimension (After we were shown/told she died off-screen) shows that there is nothing to feel concerned about, making the story feel empty and pointless to watch.Overall, Fairy Tail cements the things I hate when looking for a shonen anime to watch. I sound like an pretentious jerk for this review, but I ended up wasting so much of my time hoping this anime was actually going to get good, but it didn't. I wanted to like it, but I will not force myself if it doesn't entertain me.

Overall, Fairy Tail is a pretty good series even if I find it clichéd in terms of other shonen anime (for those unfamiliar, its a term used for anime based on manga and some of these anime do have a familiar formula.) The story is about Lucy Heartfilia, a girl who is looking to join the legendary wizard guild known as Fairy Tail. She runs into a fire wizard for the guild Natsu Dragneel and his friend Happy, become friends and go on missions to get paid. Along the way, we meet other characters such as Natsu's icy rival Gray, the fierce warrior knight Erza, etc. Its animation is pretty good from a certain perspective, the voice cast is pretty good despite a few hiccups here and there, the writing is good despite some problems in some areas and it takes a while to get its footing just right. So yeah, pretty good series. I recommend it.

Fairy tail, directed by Shinji Ishihara and written by Hiro Mashima is a phenomenal work that I would recommend to anyone looking to start an anime series. Even though it is long running series I believe it is worth the watch. The animation is flawless as well as its character development. For this reason I give it 9 stars instead of 10. The reason I drop it a star is because of the battles. Sometimes the fights between the characters get a little repetitive and sometimes boring. Also on occasion there are a few annoying characters but overall the main cast is enjoyable. In review this is one of my favorite anime of all time and will continue to be far into the future.
