Why so much hype?

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

This is basically the same story in each episode. There are three girls, who years ago escaped a polygamist group, and now help others to leave. They seem to have volunteer bodyguards who escort them on their quests. They add dramatic scenes by using hushed voices and glances over their shoulders, watching for people spying on them who might be reporting them to the elders, or cars that might be following them.The threat for these people may well be real, but it's always the same story over and over.I started watching because I am interested in polygamy and those cults that use it as a lifestyle. I thought I might learn something. But, I soon got bored.If you are interested in learning about polygamy, there are excellent documentaries about the lifestyle, and its abuses, which will tell you much more, much better.

Believe it or not, polygamy is still happening in America. This program shows how three sisters from polygamy help others escape Kingston clan, a subset of The Mormons. Bill Kurtis did an episode about the Kingstons and their secretive order. The Kingstons are like the FLDS but without prairie dresses. The Kingstons are a dangerous sect run by men who marry young girls to old men without a choice. If I was one of these girls, I would run as fast as I can. One of the girls had $60,000 in a Kingston Bank and they would only let her take $5,000 at most. The sister escaped to Seattle where another sister attends law school. The Kingston clan has already sent somebody to Seattle to bring her home. The Kingston clan is a cult of many secrets like the FLDS.

Horrible acting. It is interesting to have a show where you are running but nobody is chasing you. The people that are "escaping" have already left the groups they are supposedly escaping from. They just have them go to a house somewhere and film them "escaping". In the 'Kathy' show. Kathy had left her husband five years previous and had never been seen in the "group" since. She went back to her mothers home and filmed an "escape". They show pays them a certain amount of money to do this.They are paid actors and should use their pay on some acting classes. The acting is just terrible. It's not reality TV. The whole thing is very scripted. Don't waste your time.

I was on heavy.com and the same comments are posted so these are fake reviews the show is real this religion is real and it's a huge problem if anyone is so sick enough to believe it's OK for a 14 year old can marry a 60 year old I think the government needs to start to take control ! I think these reviews were ordered to be done by the order to bash the show think of it ! This is so sad I can't even begin to think how people can even remotely begin to believe in warren Jeff that sick f** should be killed yes in America we have free of religion but when you want to use that power for sexual benefit to children you are sick in the bible you do not see Jesus touching kids saying crazy b.s . That's all I have to say read the bible because honestly ya all look a fool sound a fool and honestly petty as f** raping boys and sh ii ya nasty the bible condemns same sex b.s Bye
